I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mbizane Escarpment Retreat, and I can't say enough about this remarkable place! From the moment I arrived, Zuannette- the hostess went above and beyond to ensure that every night felt like a special birthday celebration.
The glamping experience at Mbizane Escarpment Retreat was truly out of this world. Nestled amidst the breathtaking beauty of nature, it was a perfect blend of luxury and wilderness. The comfortable tents were equipped with all the amenities one could wish for, making it a unique and unforgettable stay.
The location of this retreat is simply perfect. Surrounded by the awe-inspiring beauty of nature, it felt like Mother Earth was showing off her finest creations. From the stunning views of the escarpment to the serene sounds of the wildlife, it was a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Now, let's talk about the food – it was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece. Each meal was freshly prepared and served by Arman with the utmost care. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was on par with a 5-star restaurant. Dining at Mbizane Escarpment Retreat was a gastronomic delight that left me craving for more.

Read moreWe recently stayed at Mbizane Retreat on our way from Kruger National Park to OR Tambo Airport and back to Spain. It was a very special experience for us as have always wanted to enjoy the night skies in Southern Africa and here is the place to do it! Our accommodation was out of this world, close to the Buffels River and completely private with stunning escarpment views. We ate all our meals on the restaurant and we felt we had our own personal chef! There’s even a large pizza oven! The food was outstanding. The tents are fully equipped for self catering and have braai (BBQ) facilities too but we decided to spoil ourselves in the restaurant. The staff are so attentive and make sure your stay is five star. Ane picked us up at a designated pickup point as our car rental wasn’t up to the farm roads to reach Mbizane and she ensured our car was safely parked on the farm where she lives. We spent three nights there and wish it could have been longer. You relax from the moment you arrive. Would go back in a heartbeat 💓 Thank you Mbizane and the wonderful staff for an unforgettable end to our visit to South...
Read moreA group of 7 friends and I recently stayed at Mbizane in the Nest - and it was incredible. The Nest is spacious and well-designed - all rooms are private and separate from the living space, with each room having either its own private pool or wild bush view. Situated right on the river with the gorgeous rock face behind it, having stayed in the 2-sleeper tents twice before, I can confirm that the Nest has the same level of luxury (perfect blend of fancy and cozy) and beautiful atmosphere.
We gathered around the fire pit every night, cooked dinner in the fully-kitted kitchen, played on the swings, had delicious brekkie at the restaurant, went on hikes, read books in the treehouse-style accommodation and just had the best time. Jealous of the family that books the Nest for the upcoming Christmas break!
Literal hidden gem not too far from JHB (give or take 3.5-4 hours). The bush road was recently improved making travel time...
