Tjimaka Lodge — Hotel in Mbombela

Tjimaka is a self-catering accommodation facility located a mere twenty minutes' drive from the Phabeni Gate of the Kruger National Park, making it a good, affordable choice for visitors to the area. We stayed two nights in the tastefully furnished family room, which is equipped with a kitchenette, modern bathroom and a single and king-sized bed. There is also a communal lapa with a large kitchen and sitting area, as well as a braai facility and pool. The room was clean, and the air conditioner warmed up the space nicely on the chilly July evenings. Unfortunately, the water pressure to the bath was very low, the water did not get very hot, and no soap or shampoo was provided. The owner does not stay on the premises, but there is a night manager who lives just outside the property. We were the only guests on the property for the two nights we stayed at Tjimaka, so it was quiet and peaceful; however, the lack of a manager's presence does result in one feeling rather isolated and lonely at night. Despite this, the perimeter is lined with electric fencing, so we did not feel threatened. The owner is very friendly and even gave us game-viewing suggestions when we arrived. Pathetic. Very very very poor service.

The "manager" Etly Lubbe is extremely unhelpful amd was very rude to us when we were stranded tonight due to mix up with our booking.

We were stuck outside the Tjimaka gate tonight for an hour after she refused to open for us or send someone to speak to us in person. I had booked and paid for my accommodation but she treated us like common criminals. Maybe it's because I am not a white client.

I am extremely disappointed. I regret spending my hard earned money here. For a manager you sure do not know how to manage your business. Do not waste...

Great lodge, peaceful, self catering with gas stove, fridge, iron and everything you'd need. No activities on site.
