Sadly, we were disappointed due to the heightened expectations both from an article we read stating this to be among the 10 best hotels in the Cape Town area and the reviews.||There were many good points, as well as some disappointing elements, that are non-negotiable for a higher priced âluxury accommodationâ (as advertised on their website) for which we paid over 3700 Rand per night. Some might be minor but in conjunction with each other they start to matter. ||Letâs start with the good things:|Pros|- stunning view: across to Cape Town and table mountain, but make sure to be on the second floor towards the sea otherwise the sand dunes will be in your way|- Very friendly staff on arrival as well as on breakfast duty (Kuda)|- Clean, nice decor|- Very comfortable bed linen and big enough shower towels||Cons|- Bed: I have never stayed in what they advertise on their website as a âluxury hotelâ in a âsuperior deluxe kingâ size room where the mattress does not measure 2 m in length! This meant that both my husbandâs and my feet were dangling off the end of the bed and when the bedspread pulls down on the toes this becomes extremely uncomfortable|- Balcony: the balcony of room 202 is very small and can definitely not be used with two chairs|- Window: the window of room 202 towards the table mountain also serves as balcony for room 201 which means as they stand on the balcony they can look inside straight onto the bed, which means no privacy|- Pre-used slippers (which I doubt the guest would put back in the plastic wrapper)|- The whole restaurant, bar and lounge area was smelling strongly of cooking smells, even in the afternoon when there was no one cooking in the kitchen |- Lastly, having to wait for more than one hour for 2 deserts without any mention of waiting time is too much. ||To be aware of:|- Best views, for the sunset is on the rooftop, but bring some thing because winds are extremely strong|- If you take a room on ground floor to sand dunes covered the view and patio is connected to the rooms right and left |- When we were there, there was only one chef in the kitchen and this made waiting times...
Read moreMy wife, son and myself booked for 10 nights in February. Unfortunately we only have only 2 here left.đ This hotel can only be described as a paradise on earth. The staff are wonderful. Words cannot describe how exceptional they are. To mention but a few, Vimbai, Sam, Archie and Vanessa. The others, behind the scenes, whose names unfortunately do not know, are just as helpful and friendly. The atmosphere, food and drinks, comfort and cleanliness is second to none. This place is very small but it is paradise, especially for single people, couples and small grown up families. As to rooms, the King room we have is the best. Views of Table Mountain, Cape Town and the Atlantic from our bed and window.... see video. The veranda is only big enough for 2 chairs but the pool, albeit smallish, is quiet and hardly used..... with 4 sunbeds and 2 arm chairs. A few miles outside of Cape Town but the excellent and cheap Uber service in and around Cape Town make travelling to and from the City and elsewhere, using the Uber App, so easy. All Uber drivers are friendly! Cape Town is beautiful and there is lots to do and see. We started off with a 2 hour hop on hop off Bus... the blue route... Amazing and well worth the money. Then an organised one day trip to Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, Cape point, Boulders Beach to see the Penguins. Another day trip to Robben Island. All booked through Get your Guide App before the holiday. Then an organised game Safari at the Aquila Game reserve and the following day a wine tasting trip to 3 excellent wineries with a private Chauffer. These were organised by the hotel and are a must. The Chauffeur who took us to the wineries, Siraaj, went out of his way to meet our needs for the whole day. He made the trip so easy and enjoyable. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens by Uber is also well worth a visit. Many good restaurants around Cape Town and Bloubergstrand. The food is inexpensive and very good. We highly recommend the Bliss Boutique Hotel. Thank you to all at the Bliss for making this a...
Read moreWe stayed here for 2 nights over the December holidays and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room. Very nice bathroom, nice outdoor area, nice linen and super friendly staff except the chef. Loved the fact that they had Nespresso machines and yummy stuff in the cupboard that you can purchase. Hotel is very quaint, stunning views from the restaurant and bar area. It's also walking distance to the beach. Behind our unit were all the outdoor units for the aircons in the entire hotel so this was noisy, especially at night. This was the corner unit. The food at the restaraunt was ok, but can be improved on. The Rissoto was a bit harder than expected. The chef was very unprofessional, he would shout at his staff in front of the guests. This happened on 2 occassions when we were there. We also had issues with the aircon in our room, it would stop working and we needed to ask the receptionist to sort it out. This was annoying as it was super hot. Other issue I had was that we only received a small bottle of shower gel for 2 nights (for 4 showers for 2 people)!!! It was not replaced. Hotel was a bit stingy with the toiletries so...
