We had a great stay at Kololo game reserve. We visited Kololo with our 3 kids (4, 2 and 0 y/o) and the manager Tanya and the staff did everything to make our stay as great as possible. The accomodation was clean and big including a kitchen and living room. We did 2 game drives and Kololo arranged a babysitter for our baby so we could do the game drive as relaxed as possible with the 2 other kids. During the game drive we saw lions, zebras, rhinos, elephants and hippo’s and if you are doing a game drive with small kids they can adjust the safari (departure time / appropriate distance if you spot animals) to create the best experience for your family. Also the food and service is great. The loved the staff and the kids menu. They even have a big basket with toys in the restaurant and one of the staff even walked around with the baby so I could finish my coffee during breakfast. Also the pool and playground are fantastic. Very family friendly and a must do if you are visiting South...
Read moreWe had a 2 night stay at the beginning of August with our 1.5 year old. We were allocated the Fish Eagle cabin, below the restaurant and furthest away from the other cabins. We felt we had the place to ourselves, lovely and peaceful. |Our son has a food allergy which was taken care of by the chef. We were well fed and watered throughout! Staff are all kind but of course our stand out was Joe, our guide, who we spent the most time with. Joe gave us more than we could imagine and even managed to tracked down 5 cheetas, 3 lions and an elephant in one morning drive!! He was extremely knowledgeable, has fantastic stories to tell and just generally gave us a huge SA welcome. Despite having a 1.5 year old we were able to get up close to these amazing animals. ||Our room was spotless, it was made up during our morning drive and turned down during our evening drive. ||Thank you all so much to the team. Would love to...
Read moreWe stayed here a few days during a three week trip through South-Africa and Botswana in July and August. It’s next to one of the entrances to the reserve. Our accommodation was large and well maintained. Staff were very friendly and the food was nice. |The guides told us it’s difficult to spot game as the reserve is so wide-stretched and cars cannot go off-road, so we were lucky seeing cheeta’s and lions. There are also many rhinos and jackals. The reserve has beautiful and varied nature.|The lodge is apparently Dutch owned; while we visited all guests were Dutch, and the majority of the lodge were Dutch KLM crew (also announced as such on every occasion); apparently KLM has some kind of deal with this lodge. They were quite dominant in the lodge and during the game drives, which we found unpleasant, also for our younger children. Other families felt the same. We made the best of it, but would not return...
