Leobo is a class above what I've usually experienced at SA Game Lodges (Pilansberg being the one that I've visited the most - Ivory Tree, Bakubang, Black Rhino, etc - all excellent resorts) While Leobo does not have the big 5 on the reserve, they make up for it with a fantastic array of action experiences and superb hospitality. In fact, if they did have the big five, they would be very limited in what they could offer and it would be "just another good game reserve." Strangely enough, the fact that they have "safe" animals on the farm, allows them to offer so much more and become a "stand-out" game reserve.||||The food: Amazing!!!!! Chris is one of the best chefs that I've encountered at a lodge/hotel. We have become accustomed to buffet-style food at bush-lodges. Chris is next level - from his bush-pizzas, to delicately prepared beets, to his wood-fire roasted lamb - everything was divine. ||||The activities: Where do I start - there were so many amazing experiences! Heidi, PJ and Matt took us all over the reserve on Quads, 2-wheelers and game vehicles. They were awesome with our kids. In fact, my boy of 5, who is usually pretty reserved, adopted PJ as his BFF for the weekend! To name some, we had clay pigeon shooting, archery, fishing, donkey cart rides for the kids, and the use of the observatory (with a HUGE domed-telescope) where we saw Jupiter, Saturn, the moon up-close and personal...and even the Sun using the sun-scope! Everyday was tailor made to suit our group of 18 and nothing was too much bother for the staff, who I would argue, are the best in any resort that I've been to. Our groups age range was 2yrs - 66yrs and everyone had a blast. The quads and two-wheelers are better suited to the more adventurous. ||||The rooms: We stayed at the lodge which was neat, clean and more than adequate. The rooms at the Observatory (where we didn't stay and are more expensive) were out of this world! If the rooms at the lodge were a 7/10, the rooms at the Observatory were 107/10! They were that much better. We got to see them when we used the telescope.||||I would choose to visit this spot again over any other bush holiday - even if it was guaranteed that I'd see a a live kill on every game drive. The next time would have to be at the Observatory tho.||||This is a private game reserve, so once you book it, you will be the only ones there - which is why they were able to tailor make our...

Wow just returned from Leobo what an amazing beautiful place! I would say it is the best holiday my family and I have ever had. So much to do you never feel bored. It was a bit of a drive from the airport but well worth it once you arrived, although you can get the Helicopter to pick you up which only takes One hour 20 minutes. We stayed in the observatory which is the main house it was so beautiful the attention to detail, with beautiful linens and rugs dressing gowns and warm capes for the colder evenings. The staff were amazing thank you Dan Melikie, Stuart, Sam Chipas, Lockie, Zollie, Jen, Eva, Maria etc ( sorry if names spelt incorrectly) You made our stay so special. Also the chef Chris was amazing we had such delicious food he even went out of his way to make me gluten free wraps and pizza so I always had the same as everyone else. The included excursions with picnics at the beach, Mountain Rock and Hippo pool are a must, as is the evening around the fire with barbeque and not to forget the Starlight Safari gazing at the beautiful night sky with a glass of wine in hand perfect! You get so close to the wildlife at Leobo especially on horseback where you are able to be very close to the Giraffes such beautiful majestic creatures. We saw Hippos, Zebra, monkeys, baboons, wilder beast, Impala, Bush babies, Wart Hogs and so much more on our drives around the reserve. The passion the rangers have for the wildlife and the surroundings is incredible! Leobo is an unforgettable experience I usually am pleased to be going home after week on holiday but here I was very upset at leaving, Leobo is like your home whilst you are there and the staff like one big family. We cannot wait to return. I could go on forever about it but one...

A group of 7 of us from Florida USA stayed here in late June 2021. I have been all over the world and can tell you the facility and the staff who accommodated our group are the best I have ever had. From the second we arrived to the second we departed they made us feel like family. Heidi, Abigail, Marinus and Matt served us food, snacks, drinks, cocktails and took us all over the property through long hikes, Quads and game vehicles. In addition, we were treated to a 30-minute helicopter ride through the bush. If you are a foodie, then Chris is the chef that you have always dreamed of. The food he prepared was as good as any 5-star restaurant. We went on a hike to the caves where the reserve owned a deck on the side of the mountain. After the trek to the top, we arrived at the private deck overlooking the plains of the Waterberg region (breathtaking). On the deck, the Reserve had a pizza oven, chairs, couches, and a mini bar waiting for us. Chris then proceeded to make some of the best African-Bush-Naples style pizzas that I have ever eaten and not to mention some killer cocktails. We stayed in the Observatory or main house and I can tell you the rooms/views are second-to-none (look at the pictures). ||Lastly, if you read the reviews especially “louie from Sept 2020” who goes into much more detail you will notice a trend that most of the reviews state, that this Private Reserve is a 5-star resort. In my opinion, it is in a class by itself. I am...
