Disappointing Experience - Avoid This Guest House!

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent stay at Phokela Guesthouse. We booked a family room for four nights, expecting a comfortable and relaxing experience. Unfortunately, the reality was far from it.

The owner was consistently complaining about noise levels, which made us feel unwelcome. The room itself was poorly maintained, with a toilet that had no lid on top and a basin with a faulty drainage system that caused water to accumulate. The shower was a nightmare - the showerhead was terrible, and the water was always cold.

To add to our discomfort, we were provided with only one blanket for the entire family room, which had a horrible smell. I'm concerned that the beds might have had bugs, as my friends and I all woke up with bites on our bodies.

The guest house's infrastructure also seemed to be in disrepair, with a malfunctioning gate that added to our frustration.

The final straw was the appalling customer service. We didn't feel heard or valued as guests, and the owner's attitude only added to our disappointment.

Unless significant improvements are made, I would strongly advise against staying at this guest house. The issues we encountered made our stay unbearable, and I wouldn't want others to go through the same experienci

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING STAY– avoid at all costs!!!! From the very first night, this guesthouse was terrible. We booked 4 nights in family rooms, but the experience was nothing short of unpleasant. There was no hot water, and the owner had a bad attitude from the start. She even referred to our 12-year-old daughter as an “adult” because she is “chubby” and demanded we either book an extra room or pay more – completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Every time we arrived back, she would greet us with attitude, telling us “don’t make noise” and even making remarks like “I can’t wait for you guys to leave when we reported that the gate was malfunctioning and almost hit our car twice.” The hostility was shocking. The worst treatment was towards the guests in Room 7, who work at the Department of Tourism – they could teach this owner a thing or two about hospitality!

Instead of warmth or welcome, we received constant nagging, complaints, and rudeness. Absolutely not worth the money – I would never stay here again and strongly advise others...

The space is quite big and spacious, the room which my friend stayed in was surprisingly clear, neat and very comfortable.

The bed was high and very comfortable, the atmosphere is very quiet and peaceful.

The family who provides the accommodation are very welcoming, kind and friendly. They provided a tour through the place which was still undergoing some repair and improvements, they had innovative ideas on what their vision of the place would be like once their done.

At the back their is a swimming pool and resting area where you could enjoy their company while taking a dip on a hot day.

Their prices range for a night are reasonable. I thank them for taking the time and effort of making us feel welcomed and for their pleasant...
