We checked in the weekend of the 30 June. I surprised my husband for his birthday. Check in time was from 14h00 and our welcome for me was really something special.
On arrival in our unit there was a handwritten card welcoming us as well as fresh roses. Thsi already for me was part of the small things that matter.
The kitchen is so well equipped there was even travel mugs that we could make coffee in if we decided to tale a walk.
The unit was very cold but there was a lovely fireplace already set up awaiting us. Not even talking about the jacuzzi bath in the bedroom that really assisted in making the room hot. We thoroughly enjoyed bathtime was so relaxing.
The electric blankies on the bed really made sure that the sleep was warm and snuggly. Let me not forget the freshly cleaned gowns! Thats what I say small things....
Judy is really an awesome host and literally just a call away and willing to help.
This is really a place to relax because not a lot of shops around but at least a Spar. There is a information file in the unit that you can check what happens in the area.
Love the guestbook in the unit where you can leave a message and also read what guest had to say.

Read moreI have truely loved my stay at Blue Roan.
From the booking experience to our arrival - Judy has been an incredible hands on owner.
The rooms are clean with a welcoming bottle of sherry. The Chelet is well equipped with ever luxury you would want and item you need. I recommend the jacuzzi bath - truely relaxing experience! The town of Magaliesburg is about 5km away to allow you to stock up for your self catering experience.
Judy has her own dogs and horses on the property, and the facility is pet friendly so you are able to bring your own dogs along for a holiday.
Unfortunately, being a cooler time of the year, swimming was not an option for me, however there is a beautiful pool and entertainment area. Games are available at reception and Judy sends a well written email with additional information about other activities in the area.
We have stayed in this area a few times for work purposes and would definitely choose the Blue Roan again, over other lodges / bnbs we have tried. I how to return soon for a more leisurely relaxing stay to really take advantage of all the activities and...
Read moreWhat a gem! Just an hour's drive from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg you find peace and relaxation. The world literally comes to a stand still.
The best part of Blue Roan? It is pet friendly :-) My dog had a ball playing with the other dogs which were all well behaved and social.
Let's talk about the view and how spacious the communal area is where the dogs can run and play. There are picnic tables under the trees to enjoy the sunrise and sunset. You have to grab a book and plonk yourself in one of the hammocks. Afternoon naps for the win. Massive trees give lovely shade on harsh summer days.
Through a little gate you find another huuuuge piece of land for the furbabies, and their humans to explore. Pathways have been cleared for pleasant walks.
The units are lovely and each decorated differently and have their own personalities.
Bryan asd Judy are fantastic hosts making the guests feel special at all times. You can clearly see their love for people and animals and the hard work they have put into Blue Roan to make it a pleasant stay for their guests.
I will most...
