What a huge Disappointment!
I had high expectations for Farmhouse 58, especially since I was planning this anniversary getaway as a surprise for my husband. Set in a beautiful heritage area opposite the Nirox Sculpture Park, the property boasts a stunning architectural design, a lovely spa, and a farm-to-table dining concept that promised a luxury wellness experience. I couldn't wait to experience it all, but sadly, what we encountered fell far short of what we had hoped for.
Restaurant: Despite reading previous reviews, nothing prepared me for the culinary experience at the restaurant. The food was, by far, some of the worst I’ve ever had. This entire menu needs a complete overhaul, along with the addition of a qualified chef and properly trained kitchen staff. If you still plan to visit after reading this, I would suggest fasting — or secretly bringing your own food.
Cabin: The cabin was an absolute visual delight—eye candy at its finest! The outdoor bath, which initially seemed uncomfortable, turned out to be a fantastic feature, and the bed was luxurious, with a great mattress and high-quality linen. However, considering the location and the premium price, I would have expected basic amenities like air conditioning. We had to sleep with an open door, which is a safety concern. In their effort to keep things minimalistic, they placed the coffee machine under the counter, forcing my husband to kneel just to make coffee. Not exactly the luxury experience we had envisioned. From 7 a.m. cars were driving past our cabin. Furthermore, at 8 a.m., the garden cleaner swept right in front of our door, taking away any semblance of privacy.
Design: If you stay in one of the cheaper rooms, the main walkway passes right in front of your door. If stillness and seclusion are important to you, I would strongly recommend avoiding these rooms.
Spa: My husband had a great experience at the spa, but I cannot say the same. I had a horrendous experience where the therapist left the door open during the massage. Guests were walking by and chatting, and I’m fairly certain they saw me lying there, nearly naked. To make matters worse, the room had no air conditioning and was incredibly hot. The noise from a tractor or construction vehicle nearby completely ruined the experience.
Feedback: I called the manager three weeks ago after our stay. I mentioned that the staff seemed undertrained and lacked basic skills, her response was, "You must remember, this is a community project." While I appreciate the community-focused concept, when you’re paying five-star rates, you expect a five-star experience. I’m still waiting for any follow-up communication.
Positives: The gardener we encountered on a walk was friendly, very professional and gave us some interesting information. The transfer was a delight and The Nirox Art Tour, is highly recommended. Also, "And Then There Was Fire" catered a meal that was everything we had hoped for—a true highlight of the trip.
Final Thoughts: Farmhouse 58 has so much potential to become a truly special boutique experience, but as it stands, it fails to deliver on the luxury wellness promise. There’s a real lack of professionalism across several aspects of the service, from the kitchen to the spa and beyond. It’s a great concept, but the execution needs significant...
Read moreWorst experience of my life, I arrived at the farmhouse in a very good mood, greeted and welcomed very well. At 6pm I went to go have dinner. I was the only one(solo trip) , at the restaurant it was a non black couple with a child . I sat down, placed my order with a waiter by the name of Brian. Very lovely young man. As I’ve mentioned, the restaurant was empty.. as I waited for my food, I was on a video call, and showing how beautiful the place was… to the person I was on a video call with…
The couple with a child, as we know toddlers do run around and make noise, which is ok, because restaurants are a public place… I could hear almost every conversation of the couple, even when the husband was telling his wife that she’s not listening to him because she was on the phone, and I mean on the phone the entire time. Poor woman is used to his behavior that she resorts to phones instead of listening to him.
To my surprise as I was on the video call, my food comes, and one of the ladies comes and tell me to tone it down… as soon as I was done with my call, I asked Brian the waiter, why would that lady say I must keep quiet when I was very quiet, was she sent to tell me by the guy sitting in front of me? Brian said I will ask her and let you know. The lady came and I asked her, why would you say I’m making noise, I started to speak loud and asked her if she can tell the difference? The guy came to my table trying to intimidate me, saying he wants to help me, he basically made no sense… and when I raised my voice and asked him is this not the noise ? I could hear you talking and your child screaming , and you’re telling me by being on the phone with someone I’m making noise.
Very disrespectful man, who is very entitled and want his title to be felt, as he mentioned that he’s the boss or owner… also mentioning that phones are not allowed, yet his wife was on the phone. They offered me a free meal with many apologies, I declined, I paid and tipped Brian, went to the reception and asked to be checked out immediately … I will not tolerate such disrespect.
It’s absurd to treat people like this, especially when you don’t know them, and throwing titles as if people must bow down to them. I run a business too, and would not treat my customers in this manner, let alone send my employees to do the dirty work or harassing customers on my behalf . I’ve attached a picture of how empty the restaurant was. Meaning my presence was too...
Read moreIt’s a harsh word, but it’s true. |We were meant to arrive at 5pm, but got held at work. So we they called to inform us that no shuttle will wait for us and we would be stranded. So we chose to drive up for ourselves. They said we can’t park there. All this while it’s pouring. Eventually we parked anyway and finally got to our room the soaking. ||We asked what time restaurant closes. They said 10pm and last order is 9pm. We arrive at the restaurant at 8:55pm and the restaurant was closed…workers had already left.|We asked what we should eat and they said (sarcastically) we should drive somewhere since we came with our own car. Any restaurant would be closed by the time we reach civilisation…||We are in the most expensive rooms, the cabin. But the rooms didn’t even have slippers or belt for the robe or even WiFi. There’s nowhere to put our clothes or luggage. And where there’s free space is actually outside. So we slept hungry and obviously couldn’t shower cause it was still raining outside where the shower and bath are. Not even covering over it. The receptionist made sure we knew it’s not her problem, even though she’s hosting us in her property. |Honestly we will...
