Hartley Manor Guest House — Hotel in Mogale City Local Municipality

We were supposed to stay over for one night but our friends who stayed there arrived the night before for a two night stay and left a few hours later!|Lots of issues; no hot water, they advertise backup power but it is clearly not sufficient as they were told not to run the fan too long and as a result were being eaten alive by mosquitoes. They also didn’t feel safe there in the dark so they left. We called early the next morning and spoke to Nessie about getting a refund as we had found alternative accommodation. She readily agreed to a refund. 12 hours later she messaged me to say her boss won’t do a refund. By now we had checked in to another place. I told her it is not professional to go back on your word and she agreed it was wrong and gave me the owners number and asked me to call him. He had the audacity to tell me ‘you know what staff are like, she shouldn’t have agreed to a refund’. I don’t agree with this… If someone represents your company I feel you should honour what they agree to, or don’t let them deal with the public! I managed to get half of the amount refunded due to a mutual...

My family of 3 (including our 95 yr old mum)was booked in to attend a wedding function nearby. Website did not clearly guide us to the 2 b/r chalet..which would have sufficed.We were allocated 2 separate chalets???While the deluxe room was satisfactory the other room was totally unsatisfactory. For starters there was no heating, the hot water was unavailable because system only gets turned on at 8am when service person arrives. No additional blankets...only got this service the next day after request. Also not allowed to use the hair-dryer or iron.The breakfast was dismal...not many options for vegetarians. The dining area looked like a on-going reno-site. Carpet thrown over some floor tiling repair. We were after a relaxed cottage-type-chalet experience (according to website) but what we received for the exorbitant room rate was far from it. I will not encourage holiday makers / travellers to venture anywhere near this accomodation . Spend your hard earned money elsewhere...where management cares for the comfort of...
