It was our first visit and it did not disappoint . It is such a peaceful place to just go and chill . There are alot of things to do around (15 to 20min drive ) on the property you can fish (catch and release ) the dogs are awesome . Riley is the cutest , she will probably adopt you for the time you are there . The breakfast we got was awesome . We met the owners on our last day they are awesome people . If you hear a piano playing the owners also sell , repair and tune pianos . All and all we had an excellent stay and will definitely go back ! So we went back and once again it was brilliant. We used the small pool on the patio and went for a row on the dam . Riley is looking good after the operation. She is an absolute sweetie pie.

There are “campsites” (see pic) advertised on their website.. honestly calling that a campsite is a stretch. It’s more like a picnic area. I had booked for two nights and I only stayed one night because I arrived too late to look for something else. There should be a disclaimer that the “campsites” are only suitable for ground tents only! An overlanding vehicle cannot access those “campsites”. I also asked for the caravan site but I was told it is in the same location as the “campsites” Lastly the dogs made it impossible for us to walk around and enjoy the place because they kept barking at us! At times it felt like the dogs would attack. Utterly disappointing experience

We had a lovely one night stay in cottage #3 and a dinner at the restaurant. The cottage was well equipped, with great braai facilities and a well stocked kitchen. The cottage was clean and the beds comfy. The private pool is such a bonus and all cottages have a beautiful view. There's also a pool at the restaurant which we thought was lovely for the kids, while the adults eat or have a drink or 2. The dogs on the premises were really friendly, as were the staff and owners. Would highly recommend and the drive out from Joburg isn't far at all.

Literally I barely touched or looked at my cellphone the entire weekend I was there. As you walk out of your cottage it has its own private seating area and jacuzzi type of pool and you are literally like 10 metres from the lake and then the scenery from there, WOW! Magical. There is a braai (Barbebeque) area right by the lake where we sat, had wine/beer, fished and watched the sunset. Then the bar and buffet, the food, INCREDIBLE, I stuffed myself, at the time we were there they served the most incredible pasta salad, which usually I hate to eat, I ate this one for lunch, dinner & breakfast. Then there was Pork, Beef, Chicken, the desserts was devine, I seriously stuffed myself. Then the staff, sooo hospitable, so friendly, we practically family now because the trip literally felt more like we went away to go visit family. Then they have a long walk in the field which you can take your pet dog by another river, I mean, the view there, super, this place was just heaven on earth. I recall driving back to Joburg and feeling the city closing in and it was unpleasant lol, all its problems, bills, traffic, the city rush which you forget completely about when you out there, came back. Imbabali is very chill, calm, quiet, very peaceful all you got is the sound of nature, oh my lord, I am coming back here, just writing this and thinking about it makes me nostalgic. Thank you soo much to Greg, Best bartender ever and fisherman, you will really enjoy his company, Keagan their awesome son, such a help & cool dude and Katherine who is the super woman of this place, you will love her, very much on the ball, always ready to serve and take care of your needs so you're happy. Thank you so much guys, I had the best time at your place and cannot wait...

Arrive a customer and leave a friend! The hosts Greg and Cath were superb. Nothing was too much trouble. We were only at the retreat for 5 days and Cath packed it with excursions and sight seeing tours which were mind blowing! The elephant experience is one never to be forgotten followed by a game drive with drinks at sunset overlooking the wilderness. Magical!

The retreat accommodation was fabulous and came with its own dog Riley! Ther are lots of dogs on the property but are all well behaved and a pleasure to be around. The restaurant has a great menu to suit all tastes and everything is cooked fresh to order. The chef is gifted! Her lemon and poppy seed muffins for breakfast were outstanding and the spagbol and chefs omelette were to die for. My husband had very specific dietary requirements, and they were happy to accommodate off menu with a bit of notice.

When going to South Africa you get caught up in the hype of the big cities and the fancy game reserves. I have done the Kruger safaris and paid the extortionate prices but this little gem of a location, right in the heart of the Cradle of humankind is a must.. all the hype of the big parks at an affordable price and to be honest a much more personal experience that a big commercial operation can’t offer This is now our South African getaway and we are looking forward to a...

The place is absolutely breathtaking, offering a serene and picturesque setting that feels like a retreat from the everyday hustle. The lake, with its calm, crystal-clear waters, reflects the surrounding trees and sky, creating a peaceful and mesmerizing view. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll along the shoreline or simply sitting by the water, the atmosphere is incredibly soothing.||||The garden is beautifully maintained, bursting with vibrant flowers, lush greenery, and neatly trimmed pathways that invite you to explore and unwind. The scent of blooming flowers lingers in the air, and the gentle rustling of leaves adds to the tranquil ambiance. It’s the perfect spot for relaxation, photography, or even a quiet moment of reflection.||||As for the facilities, they were top-notch—clean, well-maintained, and designed with comfort in mind. From cozy seating areas to modern amenities, every detail seemed carefully thought out to enhance the overall experience. Whether it was the spacious accommodations, the dining options, or the recreational spaces, everything contributed to a memorable and...
