Brides Beware!! If You Do Not Want To Lose Your Money – Stay Very Far Away! ||||The Public Must Know What Happens When You Do Business With The Moon and Sixpence!||||It feels like, the owner of The Moon and Sixpence, will ensure that your special day is ruined, by ensuring that you pay for guests not coming to your wedding – even if you give notice more than 1 month before the event. ||||Her own contract stipulates that you have until 15 days prior to the event to provide your final guest numbers and the final ADJUSTED account is payable 11 days prior to the event. (See image)||||This makes sense as the number of guests determines the catering orders. ||||We thought we were good clients and paid in full the total amount before the due date. We gave notice of the final guest numbers from 100 to 75 more than 1 month before the event but seemingly this does not matter.||||Nowhere in her contract does clearly stipulate that you cannot reduce your minimum amount guests.||||How could it possibly be fair to pay for 25 guests not coming to the wedding when they did not incur any expense for those guests because notice was given more than a month before the event? ||||We had our wedding on 7 Oct 2023 and now we will forever have our happy memory of our wedding overshadowed by, what feels like the greed of a wedding venue owner. It feels like she is intent on making the most money possible even if it's against her own contract. ||||||Now she refuses to refund the number of guests and claims that she is entitled to that money as she has fixed expenses – unacceptable as the number of guests does not have anything to do with fixed expenses, only the catering. ||||Her response was that she would give us 40% of the money that she is effectively withholding from us without any just cause according to her own contract.||||Currently, she still owes us more than R12,000 and refuses to adhere to her own contract. She insists on going to court, in my opinion, I think she knows, she makes tons of money and will easily outspend us in a legal case. ||||This feels like a typical example of someone stepping on people that she believes won't make any fuss because it will cost too much in legal fees.||||If you would like your special day to stay special then I would advise you to choose a different venue! Or be prepared to go to court in order to get the money owed to you. ||||To think that the wedding cost over R90,000 and she is still hellbent on keeping the money owed to us without any just cause according to her own contract! ||||I hope with this review that no other bride has the same experience –...
Read moreI attended a wedding at Moon and Sixpence about a month ago, and it pains me to say that I cannot recommend this venue for those looking to tie the knot. While Moon and Sixpence boasts a stunning setting with immense potential, its service is poor, for the price, The bridal pair expected a seamless experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of everyone's expectations.
Service: One of the most glaring issues was the lack of a dedicated wedding coordinator, which was supposed to be included in the package.
Instead, a well-intentioned Photographer unaffiliated to the venue attempted to coordinate the event to save the day. This oversight resulted in a lack of organization and miscommunication. It's crucial for a wedding venue to have a skilled coordinator to ensure everything runs smoothly, and this was a major letdown.
Food: The food at Moon and Sixpence was not terrible, but it was also not worth the steep price tag. We were seated at the second table to be served, and already some of the salads were running out with several more tables yet to be served. This suggests a lack of attention to detail and planning on the venue's part. In a venue catering to weddings, ensuring an adequate supply of food for all guests should be a top priority.
Inconsistency in Reviews: A quick scroll through other reviews of Moon and Sixpence reveals a inconsistency in guests' experiences. Some express satisfaction, while others, like myself, found the experience lacking. In any service-oriented industry, consistency should be a fundamental goal. It's disheartening to see such disparity in experiences, and it suggests a lack of attention to maintaining quality across all events.
In conclusion, before considering Moon and Sixpence as your wedding venue, I strongly recommend exploring other options in the area. The Cradle of Humankind boasts several wonderful venues that have proven themselves to be more reliable and capable of delivering memorable wedding experiences. Choosing a wedding venue is a significant decision, and the inconsistency in service, lack of coordination, and value for money concerns at Moon and Sixpence make it a risky choice. It's best not to gamble with such an important milestone in your life, and I believe you'll find more consistent and dependable...
Read moreExtremely dissapointed and won’t recommend. We stayed at moon and sixpense last night we checked in at 12:30 and went to a wedding straight after at Avianto . We only came back to the room at around 1:30:45 am and there was no electricity nor was there hardly any water or water pressure ! The room was boiling hot as we couldn’t put the Aircon on due to no electricity and when we woke up at 6 am this morning we were dying of the heat and woke up to no electricity nor was there hardly any water coming out the tap. We then proceeded to wake up to go get breakfast at 8 am as that’s the time they serve breakfast and there was no plates nor any coffee and half of the staff weren’t I. As yet and the outside breakfast area was very dirty ! Why serve breakfast so early if you not prepared ! As a 4 star accommodation you will think they would have a back up plan for the venue as guests aswell as bridal couples pay a lot of money to have events there or stay there. You don’t go to a 4 star hotel and they have issues like this ! I could have just aswell driven back home if I was aware of the situation and being refunded for the night we paid for .
Hi , thank you for your response much appreciated. Please understand our frustration aswell , we Paying for something that you not getting the full benefit is slightly frustrating as we could have been notified earlier and perhaps decided to go home or make alternative arrangements .
could we please request a refund as we don't stay out that side . we stayed there due to we attended a...
