Emails received after re questing accommodation were quite crass.|Many places we stay at that are customer orientated advise bring to attention roads under repair |The road we took was horrific with stop and goes .So bad that not even bothering to discuss by the establishment is pitiful. |Nevertheless we requested the Honeymoon suite for which we were upon arrival billed far more than a standard room - despite many unoccupied rooms. |We were asked to pay upfront upon arrival.|Upon entering the room we requested that we be shown how the tv worked |It DIDNT work.|Whilst the receptionist was there we requested curtains be opened. They couldn't due to shoddy rails |The fridge was small with no ice|There was no ice available and no honesty bar|The towel rail in the bathroom nearly pulled out the wall when we removed a towel|The room remains light at night as the garden lights are on and there's a flimsy cover on the entry doors glass panel|The plug in one basin could not be released post using the basin |We were told there's a lovely double shower |Yes there is however the water pressure is such that only one shower can be used|Breakfast is an absolute fiasco .|You are directed to a large room selling items . Read moreFrom Graaff-Reinet to Aliwal North it's about 317 kms - the last stretch of the Karoo till one reaches the ORANGE RIVER and the Free State.||La Riviera Guesthouse gate is just a few meters after the bridge, on the right.||There is a safe parking area and then one walks down to the well maintained garden area which looks like a large courtyard. On the right is the owner's house and swimming pool and to the left are the rooms which used to be the stables.||We moved in to Room 5 which we found very light and bright and stylishly decorated. It had a verandah with comfortable seating...I think it was an armchair and a sofa...from where one can sit and look out towards the little dam.||The dam I enjoyed the most. I got some lovely photos at sunset, of the ducks and other birdlife. Between the verandah and the dam, the lawn is well maintained and there is a little windmill outside our room.||Everything in our room was white and very clean!||My only slight complain was my mattress, the one near the window. It definitely needs changing. I was lucky that I could change sides during the night.||But, apart from that, we enjoyed our short and we recommend La Riviera to anyone needing...
Read moreWhat a suprise to find this jewel. Four of us stayed in a Cottage with a lovely view over a large duck pond. Both bedrooms on-suite. ||The cottage was spacious even with fresh flowers and rusks. Underfloor heating in the bedrooms were already on (nice toutch) and the Cottage was spotless. ||The Staff could not do enough for us. We had an excelkent 3-course dinner in our Cottage with wine & beer. Breakfast in the restaurant was good. ||Had a lovely short walk through the farm to the Orange River. ||My only complaint - the waterflow in the shower was very weak, but the rest...
