Upon arriving at the four-star lodge, we were met with temperatures nearing 41 degrees Celsius. When I inquired whether the tents were equipped with air conditioning or fans, the manager informed us that the bush camp is not part of the four-star rating and advised us to go for a swim. It is important for guests to be made aware of such details before their arrival. Other crucial information includes the lack of signal at the bush camp, the need to bring insect repellent, and the absence of fans or air conditioning in the tents. These factors significantly influence accommodation decisions.
We were escorted to our allocated tent, but upon returning from dinner, we discovered that other guests were already occupying it, having been assigned the same tent number. As it was quite dark and other guests were already asleep, we had to search for another available tent to sleep in, as there was no signal to phone reception to inquire about other available tents. This was extremely frustrating, and other guests were understandably upset with us for opening tents while looking for a place to sleep. Some of the tents lacked cushions, and others had non-functional zippers, making it difficult to close the tents properly.
Regarding dinner, the service was exceedingly slow despite our repeated requests to remove the dirty dishes of the previous diners from our table, which we eventually had to carry to the kitchen ourselves. When we inquired about this, the manager explained that he was struggling with his staff returning from the festive season, without making any effort to address the issue. Additionally, drinks were incorrectly added to and omitted from our bill, which was highly...
Read moreGood service from the staff. However, the beds in ALL the chalets are ROCK, ROCK, ROCK HARD. The ground is softer. One pays a lot to get away — leave, fuel, food, house sitting. We traveled 600km. We had an expectation that a game lodge, which has won five-star awards, would have comfortable beds where one can relax, get a good night's sleep, and recover from the stressful lives we all live.
Not one of us — 8 people — got any sleep on Letsatsi's beds with steel bases and mattresses with a “hardness” of 300KPA In the hospitality industry, provision is made for people who prefer firm, medium, or soft beds. How is this done? By using medium firm mattresses, which are the middle ground. Some people have back problems, hip or spinal surgeries, and cannot sleep on those CEMENT-filled mattresses. It’s a health risk for pressure sores!
This is an absolute disgrace. We now need to see a physiotherapist to fix our backs so we don’t have to work in pain for the rest of the week following our “breakaway” — a vacation with ZERO rest! We are more tired than before, could not enjoy even the days because of the pain. If you want to maintain a five-star rating, make provision for all your guests' sleeping needs. Not only for those who prefer sleeping on the floor. After all, that’s what booking a chalet ultimately boils down to.
(One of our guests fell where there were no lights switched on that evening, coming from the lapa. None of the staff even noticed it was pitch dark there. They were hurt severely carrying things back...
Read moreI had a terrible experience in this place. The dinner was top-notch. The problem started after dinner. The receptionist purposefully gave me a wrong wifi password. Did not give me keys to my room and had to sleep with the door unlocked. I closed the bathroom door, and it looked like it needed a key. But it just need a lil bit of twisting..little did I know.. in the morning, I woke up to get assistance with the bathroom door as I needed to bathe and go to work. And the receptionist(coloured lady) was very rude. She did not even give me a ride with a golf cart back to my room to assist me and angrily drove to my room and just left me behind.. twisted the door and left the room with an attitude.. the breakfast was an absolutely nightmare. I mean, the rating for the breakfast is R120. What we got with my colleagues was 2 dry slices of bread with bacon and cheese. Small simba chips and a small juice as if it was packed for a grade R learner. My colleague told me she found rat feaces on top of the bed.. I wouldn't wanna visit this place even if it was the only thing left to do on earth. If I could give it a 0...
