I stayed at Entabeni Wildside, Hut 5:
The amenities; the toilet in my room was broken / out of service the mosquito nets on the windows were broken the shades of the windows were broken - that meant I had no daylight at the inside cause I had to keep the shades closed the entire time. the walls of the tent weren’t well fitted/were loose. That caused the wind to make so much noise, that it was extremely hard to sleep. The walls were just bouncing back and forth all night long.
Service & food: dinner: no vegetarian options except slices of cucumber, onions and tomatoes. no water etc. Was served - you needed to go to the bar to claim your water bottle. no one at the bar took the time to tell you prices of various drinks. they didn’t have Bombay Gin, only Gordon’s. tea/coffee before the morning game drive: we were about 32ppl but there were only 20 cups. This meant that 12 couldn’t get tea and coffee before starting . The day started bad… the bar was locked at this time, so you couldn’t even get a bottle of water to drink before taking off to the game drive. Someone went looking for employees - who were nowhere to be found. our game drive started 20 mins late cause our ranger didn’t show up. to make up for the lost time, we didn’t get coffee/tea/scones during the game drive breakfast: there was not enough food for everyone. I myself had to wait 1h for an omelette. Slices of bread, muffins etc. We’re gone after the first 30mins.
All in all: by far not enough staff for the number of clients. One bartender for the crowd was not enough! One lady cooking breakfast neither.
At least: ok we saw all the big 5 and that was great.
Overall I had a great stay but that was only due to the crew on my car. Big shoutout to the crew of Air Belgium! You, and especially Prince, made the experience memorable (you know what I m talking about ). You guys should be...
Read moreKingfisher Lodge There were so many bugs and insects in the room, even in winter. I've stayed in other game reserves and there were at most 2 mosquitoes in my room, so being in game reserve isn't an excuse. The hot water was YELLOW! no kidding.. The ranger was grumpy and impatient When I came back from the morning game drive, my room had been cleaned but there were leaves and dust on my belongings, I believe the cleaning staff left the door wide open for a long time. I wish they didn't clean the room instead, because it became dirtier. The snack given before the morning game drive was a really hard (i mean rock hard) bread pieces (not really sure what they are called), I couldn't even bite on it The AC didn't work (intentionally switched off) and no log was provided for the fireplace, I was confused because it was late winter, the night was cold and the afternoon was warm
I didn't see many animals during the safari, only impalas, rhino, wildebeest and zebras, but i guess i was just unlucky as other people could see cheetahs etc. The ranger saw elephants up on the hill (which was veryyy far from where we were), they looked like grey dots in the middle of the bushes so we couldn't see them, but the ranger got upset because we couldn't see what he saw (please note that my parents are seniors). Well, i didn't care if could spot them either since they were too far away to see. I'm quite surprised most people rate this lodge 5 stars, because it was the worst game reserve lodge...
Read moreIf you want a true authentic experience then this is where you need to go. Our game driver Kamo was a wonderful guide. He navigated the trails like an expert and we always felt safe. There was never a question he couldn’t answer. Daisy would greet us after each drive and at times had to rearrange our schedule due to inclement weather . She always kept us up to speed with what was happening and greeted us with a warm smile. We didn’t get to see the big 5 (just the leopard that we missed out on) but we saw all the animals in abundance. Kamo’s tracking skills are beyond brilliant! The animals (apart from the large ones) are able to pass your tent site whenever the please. We frequently spotted the animals from the balcony of our room. We were treated like royalty by the staff and I can’t thank them enough for making this trip so memorable. A shout out to Patrick too who always ensured our meals were to our satisfaction. I wish I had taken more cash to be able to tip the staff more. THANK YOU ENTABENI WILDSIDE LODGE FOR THE MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! We will...
