We arrived on Monday 25th August 2025. We checked in after driving from Kruger National Park. After a long drive, we were greeted with fresh juice and popcorn in reception. The check-in process took a couple of minutes, and we were allocated our 2-bedroom villa. The villa had a lovely, spacious main bedroom with a double bed with an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The second bedroom had two single beds with an en suite bathroom with a bath with a shower over it. The kitchen was fully equipped with a fridge freezer and dishwasher and has everything you need to prepare a meal for your family. The villa I had booked had a splash pool. When I arrived, the splash pool had a cover over it. When I took it over, there was quite a lot of debris in it. None of my family felt like using it due to this. As we had been travelling, we were looking to do some laundry when I booked. I had checked, and laundry facilities were listed as one of the amenities. I went to reception and was told laundry could be left at reception and it would be returned by w1:00 the next evening so there were no laundry facilities on site this was disappointing. On the first evening, we got the free shuttle into Sun City for dinner, which was really handy. On day 2, we went out for the day and returned in the early afternoon and used the mini golf course, which was really good. We used the outdoor pool at the jungle bar as the pool closest had been cordoned off along with the Acacia Terrace Resturant. We asked at reception and were informed that it was closed to further to further notice this was disappointing as we had intended to dine there on our final night in South Africa. There had bern no advance notice that the Acacia Terrace Redturant was going to be closed. We were told that the only option was the buffet at the Jungle Cafe, not the option I would have chosen. We also asked what film was being shown in the outdoor cinema and were told that it was a surprise, which made it difficult for my 2 sons to decide whether or not they wanted to see it. We did go, and it was Sonic 2. We watched the film.which was a really nice experience, I looked at the buffet which had a very limited choice and none my sons would eat. I discovered there was a takeaway offering burgers and pizzas. At the end of the film we went to order food it was 20:15 to be asked what we wanted as they were closing. At this stage, another customer was picking up 2 pizzas, I asked about pizzas, and the girl that was serving me asked the kitchen and came back and said no that the kitchen was closed. We spoke to a manager in the Jungle Cafe that tried to resolve the issue and spoke to the girl and told us that the takeaway was meant to be opened to 20:30 and offered to speak to the staff to have food preparedfor us. The manager and the girl had a row in front of us, and the girl and kitchen staff told the manager that they would not be making us any food. The manager then said that they would. By this stage, I was embarrassed and also worried about what the staff would do if they were forced to make us food, so we told him not to bother. We went back to our room where we had a bit of bread and eggs that I made for my 2 sons. My wife and I had some olives and macadamia nuts. This was a great meal to end our holiday in South Africa. The room next to us was now occupied, and due to the walls being paper thin, we could every word of the conversation of our new next-door neighbours. We wanted to watch tv, so we had to turn it up to hear it. Later on, a member of staff knocked on our door to inform us the room next door had complained about the noise of the tv. Obviously, the rooms do not have adequate sound proofing to allow guests to watch tv. Overall, I am very disappointed with my stay at the Kingdom Resort and would not wish to return. I would also advise friends and family to look at alternative accommodation if they were visiting Sun City. Management needs to address...
Read moreThe Kingdom Resort in North West Province was such a wonderful, peaceful getaway from the busy city! No noisy music next to the swimming pools (Don't know if it is different in summer) and just relaxing family time for those who want to get away from the noise of the city.
The initial booking process went quick and the ladies were very helpful with all our questions. We had to move our weekend due to unforeseen circumstances and they quickly assisted us with this. There was an extra credit on the account due to a price difference for the new weekend and the resort does not offer any refunds on fees that you have paid. That is something that could be looked into and I would recommend that this be reconsidered. We were forced to make use of either the breakfast option or the spa at the resort, which we would have, however, no one enjoys being forced into anything.
The location of the resort was easy to find and check-in was quick. The room was absolutely stunning, clean, and had a beautiful view. It was a bit cold for the splash pool, however, the kids would love to return in summer to make use of the private pool.
Our visit to the Body Bliss Spa was absolutely divine. There are several options to choose from including a couple of options for children between the ages of 5-16. My children loved their very first head, shoulder, and neck massage. We opted for the full-body massages and the ladies were brilliant. They were very professional and if you visit the resort a visit to the spa is a must to include in your itinerary.
Leap adventures provide a variety of activities to partake in. There are various options that are more kid-friendly and others that have some age restrictions. We opted to take the kids on the Quadbike rides and our guide, David, was brilliant. He put the kids at ease and was so patient with them.
There are also a number of activities at the resort to participate in. Putt-putt, volleyball, a jungle gym for the kids, etc.
The generator near the restaurant makes the restaurant quite noisy during load shedding, however this can be overlooked and the need for generators can definitely be understood.
From check-in to check out the process was very streamlined and easy.
An hour after checkout we realised we forgot a rather big, expensive item in the unit we stayed in and immediately notified the resort. Instructions were given on how to make arrangements to return the item to us, however, since then I have not been able to get hold of the resort, phone messages are not returned and emails just get the response that reception will contact me back. This has left a bit of a sour taste – great service when you are there but the moment you leave the service stops it seems.
I would still recommend the resort though as it is a lovely resort for a...
Read moreMy review is late, but I am writing it anyway because I still feel aggrieved thinking about my second experience at Kingdom. As soon as we got into the villa we were quite happy with the modern look and the appearance of the villa in general. Then I opened the fridge to put in our food and beverages and was greeted by about four cockroaches. This was immediately a turn off, we left the villa immediately to go have supper and went pass reception to ask them to spray the kitchen and clean the fridge. This was done by the time we came back from supper. However, we had underestimated the problem. The whole kitchen was infested with cockroaches. Everywhere you turned there was a cockroach. The table, cupboards, when you cook on the stove a cockroach will cross over the stove, when you open the microwave a cockroach will come out :-( :-( It was the most horrible experience. We ended up barely cooking any of the food we have brought and had to eat at the restaurant for all meals. We again notified the reception the following morning and they came to spray the villa. This seemed to make the cockroaches mad, the common areas also smelled of doom and we have small kids. The roaches were everywhere in the kitchen. We we advised a manager will come and talk to us, no one came. We spent two uncomfortable nights, the kids were scared to sleep thinking the cockroaches will also be in their beds. It was sooooooo horrible. No one offered to change our accommodation, which we would have gladly accepted, even it meant two separate rooms, and each parent would have slept with one child. The management didn't even care. This is supposed to be a 4 star place, we paid R9800 for two nights for that villa and all we could use were the bedrooms, lounge and the pool. I complained when I left during check out and the manager I spoke to said he was not made aware, that means the staff is not trained to escalate such matters. He promised to look into the matter and compensate up accordingly. Gayle Khan from Beekman made contact some weeks later and the feedback was that we used the villa for the full stay and therefore were not legible for any...
