We stayed at Glengarry toward the end of December for one night. At over R1100 for two of us for one night, I thought it was horribly overpriced. Sure, the setting is lovely (overlooking the river, and hearing frogs and flufftails) but the chalet (chalet 4) was a bit run down (see photos) - a holey couch, paint peeling off the burglar bars, ancient shower head, etc). Also, there was not even a teabag or sachet of coffee, or a bar of soap in the place. These sorts of things, in my experience, are provided even for self-catering places (and particularly in this price range). Staying only one night we drank plain hot water before bed and in the morning, and had to wash ourselves with dish soap, which was the only consumable provided other than toilet paper. The so-called tea garden, where breakfast was available, was actually a conference room (and the barman whom we asked for directions didn't know where it was). Also, the "tea garden" closes at 4pm while the "pub" remains open later, however, the "pub" is actually a bar and does not serve food, like a pub usually does. The two stars are for the bed, which was lovely, and the fact that we...
Read moreSpent just over a week camping at Glengarry over the New Years period. All sites were fully booked during our stay and the sites are large and spacious so you don't feel crowded. The ablutions are basic but were kept spotless with friendly staff emptying the bins and cleaning the bathrooms on a regular basis.||The kids loved the tractor ride twice a day to the animal farm to feed the goats, calf, pigs and bunny rabbits.||The main facilities at reception with a pub, tea garden and pool are immaculate and great to visit when the rain sets in. All the staff were super friendly and helpful.||I can highly recommend the freshly baked bread rolls from the little shop!!||We did the shorter hikes around the property which our little one thoroughly enjoyed, foraging for blackberries which we made into pancakes. The river was a bit low for tubing but still great fun to cruise down as a lazy river.||The nearby rock pools at Highmoor are a must! Can highly recommend Glengarry for a wonderful...
Read moreWe stayed at Glengarry over the weekend in Aug (Winter), we stayed in Chalet 1 self-catering cottages with all the required necessities. The place is rustic but it's clean and we had no major issues, but would of liked a couple more plug points, however, the team did go out their way to provide an extra extension cord for us to use. ||||Stunning views from all cottages, and lovely walks in the area, with an animal farm for our son to visit every day 😊 which he loved. They also offer a tractor ride for all the kids to feed the animals which is a nice touch. There are also multiple jungle gyms available around the resort to keep the kids happy. ||||A part of the animal farm, they also had a couple of dogs who like to just chill out and enjoy and receive fusses from people, they were also well behaved with our little one. ||||Glengarry is run by a family and has that warm and welcoming feel when you arrive, Caitlin and her team did a great job and we will...
