Upon arrival, we were excited by what appeared to be an awesome getaway. Unfortunately, we found that the poolside loungers and towels were covered in a thick layer of filth, spiderwebs, and bugs. The geyser was faulty, causing the electricity to trip repeatedly. Tired from our travels, we elected to switch it off and call maintenance in the morning. When the electrician arrived the next day and began working on the fault, the rooms began flooding from the ceiling. We called reception to request a move to another cabin. We were told they only had a 4-sleeper available, which was too small for our group. However, desperate to shower and continue with our day, we tried to get settled in as the manager went on a search for the required geyser parts. Eventually, we were advised that a 6-sleeper identical to our first unit was suddenly miraculously available, and a crew were cleaning it in preparation for us. This unit was next to our initial one, and we knew that it had been empty all along. So, we had to move once again. A day that was supposed to be spent swimming, braaiing, and sightseeing instead became a day of carting our (substantial) luggage from cabin to cabin, packing and unpacking our things at least three times. No less, with an increasingly grumpy toddler in tow. Finally, by late afternoon, we moved to the new cabin. It didn't appear to have been cleaned at all. Nevertheless, I tiredly made my way to the bathroom, only to realize that my clothing was rubbing against dried fecal matter that was splashed across the entire front of the outside of the toilet bowl!! Shocked and horrified, I called the manager. His eyes glazed over as I listed my complaints, eventually muttering that he is just a maintenance guy?? (He had introduced himself as a manager earlier). Unfortunately, we were far from home and had to spend another night in this nightmare facility. We were not offered any kind of compensation for our troubles, let alone an...

On the upside, our lodge was absolutely immaculate (it was spotlessly clean) and fully equipped. However, the true selling point for me was the extraordinarily good customer service; our satellite TV wasn't working the first night, and a man came out within 10 minutes to try and fix it. He couldn't, but promised that someone would be around the following morning to sort things out. At 9 the following morning, a couple of guys turned up to change the satellite dish. An hour later, the telly was working! Just insanely good customer service, that well and truly...
Read moreA beautiful gem in St Lucia. Stayed in a very comfortable accomodation akin to a tree house and loved every minute of being there. DSTV and your own plunge pool available, with wildebeest roaming freely around the lodge. Cellphone reception is poor but forces the kids to abandon their devices and explore their surroundings. Many attractions nearby to the lodge, including game drives, hippo/croc cruise and horse riding on the beach or in a game reserve...all exciting and unforgettable. The staff at Monzi are friendly and very helpful, especially Yvette and Nosipho, who were always willing to go the extra mile. I definitely recommend Monzi as a stunning getaway...
