My wife and I booked this retreat without having read any reviews about the camp. We like to experience things unbiased by others' opinions. We were really surprised by what we found. The grounds are in pristine condition, and everything is in harmony with its surroundings. The reception is warm and friendly. Kobus and Annelize are down-to-earth people open to conversation and naturally likable individuals. ||The rules of the camp are simple and based on mutual respect and the dignity of all. The facilities are of very high quality, and we stayed five days in what felt like home away from home. The shalet is so well equipped that we did not miss anything. It was such a relaxed and comfortable experience that we felt rested and somewhat sad that we had to end the experience. ||Because of its location, there is no big game to view, but the tranquility of the river, the birdlife, and the essence of the camp stimulate you to naturally unwind and relax. There are many interesting things to spark your curiosity, and the walking trails are truly magnificent. truly a place to visit more than once. Alo a perfect base for northern Kruger National Park...
Read moreHad the pleasure of spending Christmas 2019 camping at Nthakeni; what an amazing experience. The attention to detail that has gone into all the facilities is fantastic, from your own onsite camp kitchen, to the outdoor showers and even the communal lapa area by the pool providing a perfect place to relax after a nice swim in the pool which is shaded with a shade cloth roof to keep it a few degrees cooler and protect swimmers from the sun. Hosts Kobus and Annelize provide the perfect amount of attention and ensure their guests are comfortable and happy there. For any bush lover this is a real treat and I can not wait to get back and experience it some more. The safari tents as well as the cottage and house available for rent also look very appealing to me as an alternate to camping, I am lost for choice!! The location is great too, I was able to do a mornings visit to Kruger, entering via Pafuri gate which is only a few kilometres away. Thank you and well done, you should be proud of what you have achieved and that you are at the same time uplifting the...
Read moreWhat a wonderful, restful break. The cleanest of accommodation and bungalows. The only sound is that of the dozens of birds in the bushveld around us. The short trails along the river edge are all immaculately kept. Trails and roads are raked and continually maintained. The swimming pool is stunning and whilst swimming we watched the paradise flycatcher hopping from branch to branch above us. We visited the campsites and we could not believe how big and beautifully maintained they are. The ablution facilities are immaculate! Faultless!! The sites are also along the banks of the river, surrounded by enormous Baobab trees. We felt completely safe and left our cameras/ bags etc on the verandah when we walked. Everything was left untouched. Kobus and Maria have perfected their lodge and campsites and meet ones every need. This was the best and the cleanest self catering bushveld experience we have had in SA. Congratulations to them. You have surpassed all our expectations!! Your hard work has paid off! What an awesome bushveld...
