What a magnificent find. From arrival to departure, our group of 5 friends all unanimously loved this stay. We took all 3 apartments / rooms. Carla’s exquisite cooking, both at breakfast and dinner (Carla has trained in Michelin starred restaurants, Switzerland and reputable game lodges and it shows!). Every meal was a delightful surprise (both in taste and appearance) as Carla hand selected local ingredients. Fred’s hospitality serving us plentiful drinks and snacks in the lovely garden by the pool both before and after dinner was great. We are still remembering Bathurst on a Saturday morning a week later. Up early for a brisk walk / run, breakfast and then in to the lovely quaint little village / town with small shops and local market at The Workshop on Saturday and Farmers Market on Sunday. Port Alfred close by for another adventure (we popped here for lunch), with Grahamstown also not too far. Three Valleys cat sanctuary and protea farm also offers local activities. This was a super place to stay before heading to a nearby game lodge. We loved it all and would highly recommend. Would not...
Read moreMy wife and I, we were staying with friends who took us to this wonderful restaurant for lunch to celebrate both husbands 70th birthdays. We were met on arrival by Fred and Carla the owners, and also maitre de and Chef. We were shown to our table offered a selection or drinks and, I understand good selection of wines.|The we were introduced to the set 4 course menu which we found both exciting, and of culinary perfection. This menu had prior to our arrival been sent to our host to ensure that all would be to our liking. This menu can also be found on their web page. Restaurant was lacking other guests but that was mainly due to being during the week, and the specialized fare at R375.00 per head. During the weekend it is I understand more popular. The nick knacks around the house allow for a wonderful talking point. The friendliness and hosting by Fred & Carla was definitely the most friendly warmest I have had for quite a...
Read moreKingston Farm is about a kilometer off the Grahamstown/Bathurst road and surprises you from the outset. A gorgeous Anatolian sheepdog stands guard (all night ), but is as gentle and welcoming as the owners. I took my Labrador with me and she was very happy. My accommodation was spacious and beautifully appointed in farm style furniture and nicknacks. The large bed was comfortable with crisp linen and full pillows.||I ate in the pub in town but the restaurant on the farm is highly recommended. I thoroughly enjoyed...
