I recently stayed at Grey Goose in Newcastle with a group of 14 people, and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. While the property itself has potential, the service and management fell short in numerous ways: Check-in Chaos: Upon arrival, we were given dirty rooms as the hotel had arranged late check-outs for others and didn’t account for our group. To their credit, they offered us complimentary lunch while we waited for the rooms to be cleaned, but this was not the first impression we were hoping for. Day Visitors Disruption: The hotel allows day visitors, and the atmosphere upon arrival was loud and chaotic. It only quieted down in the late afternoon, but by then, our group couldn’t even access the pool. We had to wait until the next day to enjoy swimming. Inadequate Catering: The hotel seemed unprepared to handle a large group. Breakfast was a frustrating experience every morning – there was never enough food, and the kitchen couldn’t keep up. One of the managers even had a shouting match with me, insisting they had to “prioritize 1 boiled egg,” which delayed everything else. Fried eggs took over 30 minutes, and sausages were perpetually late. Broken Promises: We had requested a special breakfast arrangement at 7:00 AM (as their usual breakfast starts at 7:30 AM), and while the staff initially agreed, they failed to deliver. We were left waiting with no explanation or resolution. Poor Attitude: The front-of-house staff appeared disconnected from the operations and lacked the warmth or professionalism you’d expect from a 3-star establishment. The overall attitude of the team was cold and dismissive, making us feel like an inconvenience rather than valued guests.

In summary, Grey Goose’s inability to manage a group of our size, combined with the unprofessional and indifferent attitude of the staff, made this stay a disappointment. While they made small gestures to compensate for the missteps, the overall experience left much to be desired. I wouldn’t recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a stress-free and...

We really regretted staying here. |From check in it didn't go well, the receptionist took us to our room, where the cleaner was just finishing and let us in.|It was only a little while later when we went to go out that we realised that we'd not been given a room key! That's the basic thing of checking into a hotel I feel?|The room itself was chalet style but quite small, there was evidence of damp up the walls in both the bedroom and bathroom and in fact one of our bags and it's contents got damp as we left it by the wall! The bed and bedding was modern and quite nice but the shower head was completely erratic and I'd imagine due to lack of cleaning the jets just directed water everywhere.|On our 2nd day with the sun out brightly, we thought we'd lay by the pool for a few hours, being Brit's we always love the chance to lay in the sun.....nope, the first time we'd ever stayed in a hotel that has a pool but absolutely zero sun loungers! We even asked at reception just in case they'd stored them away but were informed bluntly that they simply didn't have any!|The pool itself, like the rest of the "resort" has seen better days and was tatty and not very inviting.|There are quite a lot of game in the grounds of the hotel, often some way off and the walks are poorly signposted.|The best thing about the resort was leaving.|We definitely would not return, how it gets some decent reviews is beyond me! Avoid, there are plenty of other choices in...

We only visited the restaurant. The food is excellent, we had the Pasta & Wood fire pizza & it was truly every cent worth it!!! By far the best Pizza in town!!! We had great service from the waiter as well as all the other waiters there. The restaurant was clean & tidy!!! The outside grounds was such a serene, beautiful experience. I absolutely love all the beautiful succulents they have in the gardens, very well kept gardens!!! Love the ostriches as well!!! Only one negative that truly does make the garden in whole look bad is the dirty Koi pond, would look better when the water is clear as is customary for a koi pond. I do hope that this review will be read by whomever is on charge of the koi pond & hopefully I will be able to come back & update my review part of the koi pond into a positive!!! Other than the one negative I can honestly say the drive out to Grey Goose Game Lodge Restaurant was well worth it for us. Thank you to each & every person whom contributes towards making this game lodge a treat for visitor's & for us whom is new to town!!! Keep it up!!! Natashia Mclaren

This is an ideal place for family!!! The lawns are immaculate, tons of space for kiddies parties, I'm sure the kids could spend all day here. Activities include a huge jumping pillow that supports young and old, there are junglegyms, volleyball net, rabbits, a pool and wishing fountains. The outside area is truly something to behold. The service was just above my derate, staff could be friendlier, seemed to lack energy and enthusiasm. But truly not the worst service I had. The menu is extensive enough, but I found the pizza less than desirable. With inferior products and lacking toppings. Yes it is 3 star, but I do think there is massive potential to grow!! The place is clean, and I feel the decor just needs a little extra burst of flowers perhaps to breath new life into what feels like a forgotten area. I was also disappointed that the WiFi didn't reach outside. My coffee was great, good coffee is hard to find, milkshakes were average. I'll definitely go back and try it again because there are more positives than negatives. I guess I just expected a little more passion.

Simply amazing stay. Beautiful accommodation in Newcastle. Tranquil serene and an abundance of game and animals on site. Clean and refurbished modern rooms. Rooms have aircon, beautiful showers, and a tea station with a bar fridge. Have an awesome complement of staff that are so humble, kind and helpful. No attitude like some bigger hotel chains. Amazing use of technology by using whatsapp line to assist you with simply anything from the date of your check in till you leave. Grounds are impeccable and well maintained. Restaurant area was neat and tidy and really gave one the feeling of a home away from home. Ample play area for kids. They will simply love it especially with the little bunnies hopping around. Keep up the great work and atmosphere team Grey goose. What a memorable and enjoyable stay.
