Breathe River Retreat and Lodge — Hotel in Ngwathe Local Municipality

It's a beautiful place with a great potential to be exceptional. The only problem i had is how the owners seemed not to care about how they addressed us guests. Maybe because we were a group of black people, we were called bleksems at some point by the owner 🤔. On the first day we had no electricity for almost 5 hours with only 1 pre charged light for a house that accommodates 20 guests. At no point where we asked if we okay but he was quick to come complain about the noise in a rude manner. When we enquired about the booking we did specify that we having a 30th Birthday PARTY and there'll be around 20 guests, and nothing was said about noise restrictions until that night after we had paid and secured the booking months ago, we could have easily looked for an alternative place that could accommodate us if we were informed of this. Lastly days after checkout we are requested to pay for "decorative" wood which was placed next to the braai stand, on a cold rainy night with no electricity and no secondary form of heat ,with a house that has its roof leaking from almost every corner and after asking William the caretaker if we can use it and he says yes, we are now required to pay R500 for wood? I'm sorry but I don't think...

THIS PLACE IS BEYOND BEAUTIFUL. I highly recommend for people who love the nomadic/Off-Grid life. We spent 2 nights and 3 days on the establishment, but felt like a week. It is right next to the river, literally! It is well put together (gorgeously decorated) in farm urban style. Absolutely breathtaking and QUIET, the only sound you hear is of the birds and the river flowing!!!

From the main tar road, you will travel almost 12KM on gravel road, this gives you a chance to appreciate greenery, Mountain View’s and wildlife. Everything has been thought through, self check-in and CHECK-OUT time is 11am not 10am, truly appreciated this, lol.
