On a recent trip to the Free State I decided to do a stopover on my way back to Gauteng as it was getting late and there was terrible weather on the road. I stumbled across Hidden Grace via trusted old Google. It’s a 4 star guest house in Parys according to the website. I arrived just before 18h00 and the friendly hostess quickly signed me in and showed me to my room. I have requested for one of the more luxury rooms purely because I felt like it for this trip. I got the room at a discount though! The room was spacious with a nice bed, lounge area as well as a work desk and dresser. The bathroom was large with its own walk out area (still private though) set in a garden-ish area complete with a water feature. It was fairly cold so I kept the windows closed in the bathroom and just enjoyed the view without wandering outside. The room had all the usual one would expect from a 4 star; tea/ coffee facilities, aircon, free WiFi, Tv and as an extra some complementary Sherry. The gardens are well kept and although it was almost dark I managed to do a short stroll in the gardens to enjoy to lush greens. I have pre ordered dinner witch was served in the room just after 18h00 as requested. I got a glass of wine and a beer from the bar and was sorted. I was ready to turn in and looking forward to a good rest with a nice breakfast in the morning. There was some light shining through the curtains, so for those of us who like it pitch dark at night, it can do with some block out at the curtains. Breakfast was served on time and there were no complaints in this area either from my side. All in all a good experience.

Hidden Grace is exactly what its name suggests—a peaceful, tucked-away gem in the heart of Parys. I spent the long weekend there and left feeling completely rested and recharged. The garden setting is beautiful and serene, the rooms full of charm, and the overall atmosphere warm and welcoming. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and breathe. A truly lovely escape—I’d return without hesitation.

Took a while for the person on duty to open the gate for us. Not very friendly, either. The room was nice, but the double bed was noisy. Several people reported this before on reviews. The next morning there was no water in the taps - has also been an issue on other reviews. The garden is beautiful, and there is ample parking space.

Place was not ready at check in time, only 3 hours later. When I arrived there, they were still setting up with bedlamps and handtowels that were just bought (straight out of the shopping bag) on to the railings. The stovetop was not clean, so I asked the lady who stays on the property to please clean it as I was informed this is our contact person on the property. Later that night we saw that some of the cutlery was not clean and there was old, spilled milk in the microwave. Bedding was not clean. There was no water upstairs the next, Saterday morning. The site through which we booked was informed of this by our friends who booked the accomodation the next morning (the Saterday). We phoned around and there was no alternative accomodation in Parys that weekend which can accomodate us and 2 dogs. However, when communicating with the owner it is constantly insinuated that we do not want to pay and therefore we are complaining in order to not pay where (in all honesty) I would not even stay here if someone paid me triple the amount we paid to stay there. Completely ridiculous, especially the horrible service and false...

The rooms are able to accommodate for adults however, we will forced to book a separate room which was a waste of money. ||Disappointingly, we could not swim in the pool was murky. There was no water in both the rooms that we've booked and we had to call the manager for assistance. We were waiting on the manager to come or call us back however that never happened. When we did not receive a call or anybody coming to the room after a while, we checked by ourselves if the water was back. ||Rooms of fairly clean however, this is an average...
