It will take me a while to get over the money I wasted at this establishment. For the first time in my life I left without giving a tip and I didn't feel bad about it. In fact; I felt ripped off. I decided to go to Elegant guest house for dinner with my boyfriend and we only had an hour to spare. Upon arrival there was a guy at the reception area and before placing our order I asked him if the platter would take more than half an hour and he said 'No'.. I do need to mention that we arrived on a day where it was not crowded at all. There were only 3 guys by the slot machines and every other place was empty. We were the only guests sitting at the top. Drinks took too long to arrive, I actually had to go downstairs after over 15 minutes of waiting for my boyfriend's drink to arrive.. this was after mine arrived after a long time and him being told that they had no brandy after having waited for over 10 minutes. The service was horrible. 45 minutes down the line - our food had not arrived my boyfriend had to go downstairs to check if it was ever going to come and minutes later he came with a guy that felt the need to explain that our order took long because there is rump steak in it.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!! Elegant guest house is a scam. I feel ripped off. The platter which costs R250 isn't even worth half of that amount. The lamb chops aren't there. I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!! WORST SERVICE...

I was pleasantly surprised with the service I received from Mbuso and Nomsa after reading a couple of reviews saying they were not very friendly. I guess it works both ways if you friendly you will receive great service. Admittedly I walked in with an attitude but as soon as I started discussing the issue it was all sorted out within a couple of minutes and we could continue with smiles on our faces.
