Katberg Hotel is quite special, a little hard to find - some signage indicating you're there is needed, we almost drove off the mountain in our efforts to find it - but once you find it the journey is worthwhile. Set in absolutely stunning scenery the hotel nestles in the mountains like a pearl in an oyster, surrounded by greenery and a multitude of beautiful plants and flowers set in a well manicured garden, there is a sense of peace and serenity that washes over you and allows you to truly relax and unwind. It being winter there wasn't a whole lot to do and we were the only guests there but I enjoyed exploring the property and walking along the trails in the forest. The food is excellent, I'm a dessert freak and every dessert served was beyond perfect. The staff were friendly and professional, all in all the entire experience was a good one. A few words of warning, the hotel is decidedly not wheelchair friendly and you have to take the stairs - lots of stairs- to get anywhere, steep, slanted and uneven stairs that even in daylight were a challenge. The room itself was nothing special, it was clean and comfortable but only had one plug socket which in the modern era of every family member having multiple electronic devices proved to be irksome. But if you were there during summer there's a big beautiful pool for adults and a great splash pool for the kids. Also full braaing facilities poolside would keep the whole family occupied. The hotel definitely...

My family and I have been attending Katberg yearly for the past 20 years and through it we have seen the hotel go through various changes. Every year we hold out hope that it will make its comeback and after a series of bad experiences in the past we finally saw that turn toward returning to its old glory this past week. With the new management on property we were pleasantly surprised with specials for the RSA v Ireland rugby game with quite possibly some of the best burgers we have ever had. The service was absolutely top notch and we were attended to every step of the way. It brought back so many memories for us to sit fondly in the bar in front of the fire with good food, drink and a match to watch. The grounds have never looked better and the hiking trails have been cleared and marked amazingly with even a guide on offer! Would recommend them over and over for an incredible family holiday. Thank you for the nostalgic visit, we will be...

Super family friendly. Our children had the best time. We really got to properly relax, with all our meals taken care of and rooms cleaned everyday. There is so many fun things to do together as a family from Bowls, to Tennis, to Squash and the amazing swimming pool area. With young children the play areas were great and the playroom was a huge hit. The staff were wonderful and the food was really amazing! We brought our bikes and got to enjoy the incredible scenery of rolling Hills and mountains all around. My husband really enjoyed the golf course and as a family we enjoyed riding the golf course - spectacular views. Some of the facilities at the Hotel are in need of a little upgrade or refurbishment, but for the most part and for the price of the holiday, the value you receive cannot be matched. Thank you Katberg for a memorable...

I would give 7 stars if I could. We stayed in a self catering house for three nights with my family and pup. Dinner one evening at the hotel. The house was lovely with a beautiful view of the mountain from the veranda and the eco estate and golf course on the other side. The house is well equipped and the beds and percale cotton sheets soft and comfortable. Robert and the team went above and beyond to make us comfortable and feel spoilt. The hotel gardens are beautiful and our little forest walk to lovers rock was easy and gorgeous. While we chose to rest and enjoy the mountains and a lovely fire, there is so much else to do. It was absolutely amazing and I recommend you give them a try. Thank you so much for our lovely holiday.

Lovely weekend in the mountains with our 2 young girls. Not much cellphone signal, so no internet/tablets - just fresh air. The newly revamped resort has had a fresh make-over. The rooms are clean, food good, staff friendly and gardens extensive. The kids loved the horse rides and Zolani is just the best! We had a 10km hike in the natural forest which was something out of this world. Some parts of the resort still needs an update and the rooms are small, but I would recommend visiting the resort with friends as there is lots to do. Safe for the kids to run around and perfect for weddings or parties. Worth a visit.
