I stayed at Ezulwini Berg Resort from the 29 June 2024 to 05 July 2024. My wife and kids used the heated pool everyday during our stay. I did not use the pool.On the night of 04 July my wife complained of an ear ache. It got worse on the day that we were leaving on 05 July and resulted in us driving straight to the doctor upon departure. The doctor stated that the cause was an abscess in her ear and most likely resulted from using the pool. My kids started getting ear aches from 06 July 2024. We took them to the doctor for treatment. The pool is accessible 24hrs a day as advised by reception when checking in. I can't see how the pool is treated with chlorine if it's available 24hrs a day. I stayed at unit number 1 which is closest and right next to the pool and I was up and down most times as I used to throw my cigarette butts in the bin nxt to the pool. The only upkeep I saw was the maintenance team pumping borehole hole water into the pool. I phoned the manager Mumtaaz Asmal to inform her of this matter in order for her team to take corrective action to protect future guests and instead of considering the validity of my statement she outright disagreed with my statements and said that I am not a medical practitioner to make such accusations. I wish to declare that my wife and kids did not do any extreme sports or other such activities that would result in an ear infection and upon speaking to all of them my doctor stated that it could only be the pool which was the root cause. Mumtaaz who is not present at the resort did not even consider doing any checks or consultation with the staff to check if the pool was properly maintained when I called her she outright rubbished my efforts for her to take action for the well being of future guests. I expected the resort to be quite busy as it was the last week of school winter vacation however for most of the week that we were there my family was the only guests. Perhaps that is the reason why the pool was not maintained. Absolute ridiculousness as we still paid for those facilities. The resort is allready loosing money through vacant units None the less this is the apparent attitude to guests well being which will only make the ship sink faster, something that the management team is all to happy to burry the heads in the sand over. So book at Ezulwini Berg Resort at your own perril. Oh and to top it off a bag of wood was sold at R30 for the first 3 days and thereafter doubled to R50 a bag without any reasoning for near 100% price increase. I guess that puts everything into perspective like those jugs you find in every toilet throughout the resort. What a disappointment indeed.
The tone of your response to my detailed description of my experience at your resort does not do you any favours in the the short or longterm we will definatel not return or would any of those that read this...
Read moreThe facilities were not maintained, false advertising, the images of the place look very inviting, seems like so much for the kids to do, the jungle gym was a hazard, broken bridge with pieces of wood and paint flaking off the entire structure. The putt putt greens are almost completely wrecked, the tyre swings are not sealed exposing the sharp copper wire strips exactly were kids are going to put the most pressure, injuring themselves badly. We tried renting board games but decided against it as the condition of the games were very poor and not clean as well.
Basically almost all of the facilities advertised seemed unusable as no sanitation was provided around these areas.
We booked into an 8 sleeper, maximum 6 adults and 2 kids and a 4 sleeper, maximum 2 adults and 2 kids. The rooms promised a sleeper couch, what was given was not a sleeper couch instead 2 single, maybe narrower 3 layered ottomans that fold out. No sheets, extra duvets provided. The bathrooms were poorly cleaned with one being very poorly lit, the hot water took ages to heat up, usually after several people endured cold showers already. Fridge was barely working, food actually defrosted when we moved it to the fridge that we had to return it to the coolerbox.
It seems like covid regulations were only adhered to at reception and when walking the grounds.
Cleaning staff were completely reckless when entering the apartment. On the first day the cleaner entered late midday while we were braaing, she placed a laundry basket filled with dirty towels from other apartments on the table outside were our food was kept risking cross contamination from other apartments. She cleaned haphazardly, dropping her mop and broom in the middle of the room and kitchen were we where busy preparing food.
On the second day another cleaner arrived and entered the second 4 sleeper apartment while we were in the bathroom, I'm unsure if it was the same cleaner that entered the 8 sleeper, this time without a mask were she was reminded to put one on. We did not see any form of sanitizing when cleaners entered or left the apartments, this was all very worrying as three family members are at high risk and take thorough precautions with their health so this was quite alarming and very unprofessional.
The views are beautiful and the resort has a lot of potential unfortunately the resort promises quite a lot on its website but it fails to deliver. We were not satisfied at all with out stay. We won't be visiting this...
Read moreI attended a Family Reunion on 9th to 11th Feb 2018. We were absolutely disappointed for many reasons. Firstly when I walked in there was a tray and 2 soiled bathmats strewn on one of the beds. When I tried to switch the kettle on I got shocked. The Fridge was not working. The moment I switched on the stove there was a total blackout. Straightaway I foned Reception and they did sort everything out immediately. My point here is before a guest arrives a Supervisor needs to come in and do a quality check on all appliances drawers cupboards bedrooms ( my aunt found a used condom in the bedside drawer) Now isn't that disgusting!!!
The next day the replacement stove oven was not heating although the light came on. The microwave was not working. I was so fed up that I didn't bother complaining. The placemats were torn and looked disgusting and good for the trash . The sofas and furniture are the same old ones from 10 yrs ago. The chalet itself looks shabby and deteriorated. The Rock Pool although I swam in it I was told by family members that the water is murky and not clean.. The only good thing was the outside jungle gym and play area and fresh lush lawns. We have always had our Family Reunions here Actually its our 4th or 5th Visit. We have made it clear to the families that we never coming back here. We will look at other...
