|Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge is a hidden gem nestled into the Northern Drakensberg mountains away from all the noise of busy Drakensberg resorts and town life. |A place to truely chill in various ways such as- fishing in trout and bass dams, doing numerous hikes of different levels, relaxing at the pool surrounded just by the mountains, mountain bike trails , pony/horse rides and also the oppurtunity to climb to the top of the surrounding mountains.|The full board meals are beautifully presented and very tasty in a cosy atmosphere. There was also a  lovely wood fueled fire adding wonderful warmth to the bar and lounge area. ||If you do not have a 4x4  or appropriate vehicle to get up to the Lodge from the bottom, you can make arrangements to be fetched. ||Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge also has some interesting bushrman rock paintings which you can discover fairly easily on one of the hikes. ||The wooden cabin accommodation is very comfortable including your own fire place in the room. ||If you want to get away from it all and immerse yourself in nature and the true beauty of what the true Drakensberg can offer you then this should be a must on your bucket list.  |Greenfire Drakensberg Lodge is a priceless hidden gem and excellent...

PRO´s :||Einsam, ruhig, in schöner Natur gelegen.||Die Managerin Roseanne sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich (Lunch Paket, Wander-Tips).||CON´s :||Die Lodge liegt NICHT am/im Amphitheater !||Falls Anreise ohne eigenen 4-WD, keinerlei Möglichkeit, bei mehrtägigem Aufenthalt (3 Übernachtungen sind ZU LANG - maximal 2 Nächte) zu entfliehen.||Die Lodge ist rein auf Gäste von Greenfire Enterprises zugeschnitten und ausgerichtet.||Die Buchung per BOOKING war außer der Reihe, wahrscheinlich weil nicht genügend Gäste vorhanden.||Damit waren wir bis zum Eintreffen des Greenfire-Personen-Lastwagens (erinnerte mich an Rotel-Tours/Passau) am Abend des 2. Tages eine lästige, jedoch zahlende Begleiterscheinung.||a) "Begrüßung" durch einen selbsternannten 19-jährigen "Manager" samt "Praktikanten-Freundin", welche uns hauptsächlich die "DONT´s" brieften.||Beide waren abends laienhaft in der Küche tätig und servierten mickriges, vorgefertigtes Fast-Food (keine Auswahl, oder Nachbestellung - BEIDE waren bereits mit sich selbs beschäftigt).||Danach abwechselnd laut kichernd mit ihren Mobile Phones und dem Hund.||Ich fragte beide, ob dies unsere, oder ihre Ferien seien.||b) allerorten begleitete uns ein (im Endeffekt harmloser - wer weiß das ?) Pitbull (in Deutschland als Kampfhund verboten), welcher ständig nach Spielgefährten (uns) suchte. In dieser Einsamkeit kein Wunder.||Dieser lag nach Rückkehr stets vor unserer Lodge-Türschwelle, ansonsten quer ausgestreckt auf den uns nächstgelegenen Sitzgelegenheiten der Terrasse, bzw. innerhalb des Speise-/Wohnzimmers.||Nachdem wir uns darüber beklagt hatten, kam die Antwort "It´s our property."||Am 2. Abend beschwerte sich ein inzwischen angereister tschechischer Greenfire-Gast während des Abendessens in gleicher Weise über den Hund, welcher sich vor das aufgebaute Buffet gelegt + zu Füßen des Gastes plaziert hatte.||Die (topfitte !) Reiseleiterin sprach kurz mit dem "Property"-Chef + 1 Minute später war der Pitbull aus dem Salon entsorgt.||Während des Aufenthalts der Greenfire-Truppe gab es plötzlich auch Buffet, Auswahl + das "Manager-Pärchen" war weg.||Betreuung + Kümmern ab da kein Problem + sogar der "Chef" Shawn taute auf, welcher uns am ersten Tag völlig ignoriert hatte.||Buffet war zwar erfreulich, jedoch "wer sich zuerst vorgekämpft hat, kriegt das Meiste".||Ergo, für eher zurückhaltende Gäste an der Schlacht, blieb wenig bis nix.||Poor.||So geht´s bei DEN Preisen nicht.||Unsere Empfehlung:||Es gibt genügend andere attraktivere (auch günstigere) Unterkünfte.||Wer will, kann ja einen Tagesausflug zur Greenfire Lodge per eigenem 4-WD machen, oder sich abholen lassen Telefonnummer am Gate).||Fazit:||Drakensberge waren für uns kein Ort, welchen man nochmal besuchen müsste.||Jeder Ausflug in die Alpen ist spektakulärer, die Unterkünfte besser, die Anreise kürzer. Vom Preis nicht zu reden.||Wer Geier sehen will, reise in die Gorges de la Jonte, oder in die Pyrenäen.||Wer wandern will, ohne Massen antreffen zu wollen, reise in das Sengsengebirge, oder in den Nationalpark Kalkalpen in...
