Hermanuspietersfontein Cottages are really a hidden Gem with amazing Hosts Louchner and Ida.
The Cottages are located on a beautiful active wine farm with the vineyards stretching for kilometers accross the hills with their green green leaves as far as the eyes can see.
The peacefulness that greets one after you have off loaded are one you will experience for your whole stay.
With the farm life never stopping the kids are entertained by tractors in the flieds or the sheep being fed in their camps around the Cottages. This makes for an exciting time of the day when the motorcycle comes up into the valley and the sheep all knows its feeding time.
The farm offers multitudes of hills and paths for the whole family to go walking or running on. Their are also mountain bike routes and the dam on top of the hill is also safe for swimming.
The Cottages Bloos and Kleinboet have recently been revamped and got brand new fridges and cubboards installed.
Bloos/Kleinboet and Swart skaap are located close to each other making it ideal for family break aways or friends going away together but everyone still wants their own privacy.
Each cottage has an indoor and outdoor braai that doubles as a fire place for the winter nights to keep the Cottages nice an cosy.
Posmeester Cottage is located up the road from the first three and offers a 3 bedroom setup with two double beds and one room with bunk beds. The Cottages has recently also received a dishwasher to help out with washing up duties.
Stertswaai House located on top of the Hill offers and amazing 4 Bedroom 2 Bathroom setup with double fridge and dishwasher. It has an amazing open plan kitchen lounge and indoor fire place with an outside fireplace located on a wrapped around stoep with lots of green grass to play some touch rugdy or even a game of cricket.
Louchner and Ida are always ready to help out and explain what is happening and they spare no effort in accommodating their guests and making them feel at home.
We have had the opportunity to visit Hermanuspietersfontein Cottages on a few occasions and it's nice to see that improvements are being done over the years. But nothing takes aways from the absolute quality time one gets to spend with friends and Family so much so that you even forget all the Cottages have wifi installed now too.
Will really recommend putting this on your...
Read moreA friend and I booked two nights here to 'get away from it all'. The promise of no electricity [there is a fridge/ freezer and somewhere to charge your phone] was very appealing as was the lack of phone coverage, dinner by candlelight and the calming noises of nature.||||We stayed in the largest of the cottages [Posmeester] which was perfect for staying with a friend [be therefore had our own bedroom and bathroom each]. The cottage is stocked with firewood which we used both nights for the indoor fire though we only discovered the BBQ on the last morning! The fridge was stocked with the farms own wines which you can buy using the honesty bar along with their own honey and oil which we purchased to bring back with us to the UK after using them for cooking.||||I would definitely recommend making sure you have enough time to find the farm in the sunlight. By the time we turned off from Stanford it was dark which made it very difficult to navigate to given it was our first visit and the farm is only accessible by back roads. Also, once you're on the property it is considerably difficult to find the cottages so make sure you make plans to meet the host at the gates so they can give you directions. ||||I'd certainly return...
Read moreWhat a weekend. Cottages to houses( caters to number of guests and style of living ) scattered around a working (sheep) and award winning wine farm. Set on the edge of awe inspiring mountain range, get ready to relax.|We had a cottage that I immediately wanted to replicate somewhere in SA. All the essentials done old school but so cozy in the middle of winter. Inside braai which, after supper, was the romantic fire place, warming the entire cottage. Should you choose, your own secluded out door ⁷braai stand with tonnes of dry wood. You would have heard the grass grow other than for the sounds of the sheep in the fields or the abundant birdlife. To this end, an enormous eagle landed 3 meters from us... too flustered to take a picture, it flew off to look for more interesting guests ( of which there was none the weekend we were there..wet n cold month).|Very centrally based to view Napier, Agulas and Bredarsdorp.|Note: 17kms of very well maintained gravel road to get to cottage |Awesome hosts and staff..invite them in for a drink and learn about the area/ cummunity/farming and their perspective of life.|This was the start of us ,as a couple, spending a weekend away...
