An absolutely amazing experience away from the hustle and bustle of city life. A hidden gem of a farm cottage set in the blissful, serene Stanford Valley, 25 km inland of gravel road, from the main road The owners, Gert and Kirsten, were extremely hospitable, and owners of a huge protea plantation, mostly for export. Nestled in the scenic valley were breathtaking views of the protea plantations, farm animals, surrounded by an abundance of greenery ...just nature! At night we could all huddle around the fireplace, and feel the warmth and love of family... God's grandeur. A must-visit for locals...

The most restful, blissful stay I've ever had. Though there is more than enough to do on the farm and in the nearby town of Stanford, we opted to "be still" as our hostess Kirsten put it. We spent two nights at the Laughing at the River cottage which was beautifully decorated and equipped with everything we needed to relax, recharge and unwind.
