Fairview Guest House Hartswater — Hotel in Phokwane Local Municipality

This venue has a beautiful view as it is situated atop a hill with the an enchanting sunset view. It has peace and quiet and can work for a night stop on a long journey. The cleanliness was great so no complaints there either.

That's where the good ends for me unfortunately. I was travelling for business with 2 other colleagues and when we made the booking the gentleman assisting us was very cordial and welcoming and agreed to include breakfast for us and let us pay for a company rate for the room and standard rate for breakfast which was ideal as we work a considerable distance from the guesthouse.

We also highlighted to him that we'd stay for 2.5 months on a weekly basis so the that we could make this a home during our stay.

To our surprise when we asked for breakfast in the morning the same gentleman stated that he would not give us the breakfast as he would only book us for company rate despite what we booked for. He insisted that he wouldn't have given us the food even separately invoiced because he happened to know our company wouldn't agree to more than the night rate. He seemed to be very sure that we wouldn't have breakfast even though we were happy to pay for it. The nerve. There was also a cold front and guess what NO EXTRA BLANKETS!!!! The shower also has hot water for max 5min and it goes dead cold. And no it has nothing to do with loadshedding as this occurred even without loadshedding during the afternoon.

The gentleman's demeanour seemed soured and he looked unhappy to serve us during our stay and there is never anyone at reception. Never and...

This is one of the most beautiful guest rooms I've been to. Nestled in the arms of a slope you have the vantage point to view the town beneath you. The rooms are top notch and fabulously decored. I would easily give them 5 stars if they had microwave ovens in their standard rooms. It's no longer a luxury but a necessity these days. Or at least a common place where one can warm their own food from outside the establishment....

Aside from some maintenance issues and confusion with which room was actually supposed to be ours it was a descent stay. The view was nice, security fence was working and the employees tried to be as helpful as possible. There is a Spar just down the road and descent shopping for a small town and there is also a lovely olive and pecan farm about 7 mins drive just outside...
