How Very disappointing !! a modernish tired 2 bed bungalow in need desperate need of updating ( cooker,couches, bathrooms etc. ) beds and bedding had also seen better days. Slippery paper carpets. Bed on wooden pallets. The outside is overlooked on all sides, BIGGEST letdown the noise!!! , and considerable amount of building going on in the area and for the duration of our stay ( 4 weeks) we could not use the outside space during the day because of angle grinders,generators, cement mixers etc plus the unwanted attention of gangs of workmen.

The host ( not local but 150km away) says she gave a discount for the noise after our comments but she didn't. The stairs to the mezzanine are unsuitable for children, animals or the infirm having wide gaps both horizontally and vertically on the risers and in our opinion potentially dangerous. The upstairs outside sitting area is small but pleasant but has no view other than the surrounding houses.

Nearest shops are a chemist and a liquor store 5-10 minutes away by car, St Helena itself has a Spar and a garage and is a further 25minutes away. The path to the lovely beach is about 350m but unfortunately was spoiled as the tide line was littered with the carcasses of dead seals in various stages of decomposition. As an aside the host also complained that we had upset the cleaner, this is someone we pointed out to her had to walk 2km to the house for minimum wage, her response ' not my problem ' ! Given that we gave the cleaner a lift home each week after work, gave her additional cash and bought over R300 groceries plus cigarettes this seems unlikely. All in all nowhere near good value and a long way from what should be expected...

What an amazing gem nestled in the heart of the West Coast, a perfect escape out of the city. The owner has taken care of every detail for one of the most amazing weekend break away places...She was absolutely professional in every detail of the place and how to get there, and was available at all times if we needed assistance...the attention to detail in this beautiful rustic accommodation was way above my expectations. Very well positioned and extremely dog friendly. Large walled garden. Comfortably furnished with everything you need. However the beds were terrible. To small (standard doubles)and very hard. Lanterns for loadshedding not charged and no batteries for the regular torch,no gas in the lighter for the gas plate. Altogether a great place but housekeeping needs to...
