My partner and I stayed at the guesthouse last year. Although it was aesthetically pleasing, we were unhappy with our stay. The cafe side of the place has a weird layout and we were directed to park our car there while we waited for assistance. Little did we know that we were parked near the rail gate. The gate is next door where the guesthouse is. Little did we know that when the next door gate opens up, it would slide over the rail on the other side (at the cafe) where we were parked. Someone opened the gate and the side of our vehicle was scratched very badly by the gate. We were not in the vehicle at the time, so couldn’t move it in time. We just heard a loud bang. We reported the issue to the host, who completely got the facts wrong as her insurer accused us of tailgating thus making it our fault. I spent hours on text and on calls with her insurer to explain as I was instructed not to speak directly to the host anymore. It was unsettling as I was never rude to her. I thought we had mutual respect and she understood the facts. After sending the insurer images to prove it wasn’t our fault, they understood but the claim has been hanging for almost year now and I thought the host would assist in resolving this asap for us but she didn’t. Especially as we were pleasant guests and we didn’t exchange any foul words or mistreat the place. We ended up claiming from our own insurer to have the car fixed and paid an excess of R3,000. I didn’t bother the host to take accountability and refund us the excess money as the establishment (both the cafe and guesthouse as I understand are managed by the same people) failed to put a sign to inform guests not to park there. This could easily happen to someone else. We drove 9hrs to get there so one can imagine how exhausted we were upon arrival and not trying to inspect the place for potential accidents. I hope they have erected a warning sign as requested. Completely displeased with the lack of care and just wanted to warn other guests about the weird layout and gate that passes through to...

Read moreWhenever I visit small towns, I usually expect a more personal touch to the service. This establishment offers exactly that. Fantastic service all-round. Thoroughly impressed with Liana and Sonja. Loved the shower (Room 3), nice touch. Also loved the iron and the ironing board. These 2 cab really come in handy.
The only (nice) criticism that I have about this establishment, is the fact that one totally forgets that they're in the town of Prieska. It's got a posh-suburbia...
