Mein Heim guesthouse is situated about 16km outside of Kimberley and we used it as a stopover en route to Gauteng and Pretoria.||It is located on a stud farm and there is planty of opportunities to feed some of the horses and ponies on the farm. There is also some antelope (springbok) in a large camp and although it was difficult to get close to them it was fun for all of us to watch them from adistance. Some large but friendly dogs quickly become part of your stay and there is a large enclosed pool that is very welcome in the stifling heat. The house is huge and we stayed in one part thereof without even being aware of the rest of the guests. The Living room, kitchen and rooms is huge and very stylishly decorated. Old style with enough of the modern so we were more than happy. Free wi-fi kept the kids happy enough. We stayed for one night and the owners made us feel really special.||||Verdict: I highly recommend the place as a stop over...if you are staying for more than a few days, keep in mind that it is a fair distance to Kimberley and you would require transport if you need to fill up...
Read moreAre you looking for a farm stay? The Estate is conveniently located about 15 km outside of Kimberley, along the road to the town of Douglas. The farm features an equestrian center and is home to various farm animals reminiscent of those from the movie "Babe," although it does not have a pig. The guest rooms are clean and well-maintained by friendly staff.
Please note that the establishment is not graded by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, so it's a good idea to check in advance if you have specific expectations. The Estate offers hiking and cycling trails, and you may be lucky enough to spot some of the resident game species while exploring.
The area is also known for its Khoisan rock engravings, which, despite being weathered, are still visible on the nearby hills. Additionally, the region is filled with striking rock formations, making it a paradise for nature photographers...
Read moreThe place was clean and fine for an overnight stay near Kimberley. However, our unit was a bit cramped for 4 adults sharing one bathroom so I would recommend either a larger unit or even 2 units for more than 2 adults sharing. We didn't use the pool because there were 2 or 3 very unhappy looking and sounding dogs just on the other side of the fence! We are complete dog lovers, but these dogs didn't seem very friendly at all. perhaps the owners could keep the dogs out of the pool area when...
