Hereby is a list of all the issues we have experienced during our stay at Hazelwood House. When I moved in, it seemed that everything was fine, until Johan came to me to say that my girlfriend isn’t allowed to wash her clothes, and that we are limited to one load a week. ||After that, we had issues with the airco that didn’t work, when messaged it took a day, but then the aircon was fixed. But after that Johan came to me rather frequently saying that we need to stop using the aircon so much, because it is expensive. The place was listed as all included, but then he is complaining about the costs and basically forcing us to turn it down. ||Another thing is how frequent the cleaning lady comes, he said she would come every week, but there have been so many weeks where she hasn’t come to clean, give us new towels, clean the linnen (which we aren’t allowed to do). And then once she comes, there is still dirty areas in the house. ||After a month, the bathroom flooded, I spoke to Johan about it, he said that it would be dangerous for our health to stay in the place, and moved us to another unit on the complex, where he first said it would be for a few days, but then ended up being almost two weeks. ||Once this place was ‘done’, he send me a text: “you are going back to Pincushion tomorrow, there will just be workers on the outside of the bathroom”. |I said I couldn’t move due to work, and that we would (as discussed) move at the end of the week. We decided to move on Friday evening, just to find out that the carpet was still humid, and that there is mold on the roof in the bathroom (black mold?). ||Then Saturday morning Johan barges into our place while we are sleeping, just to wake us up and ask the obvious (did you move back in here?). When suddenly the place wasn’t done yet and there was still a carpet that needed to be put back. Then why did he tell us it was ready to move back in?||So I said to him that we should talk. Told him that I didn’t like the way he has been treating us, we are his guests after all. Where he replies, we aren’t happy with you either, because we bought a bigger tv and moved the tv in the room into a cupboard…|Then he says that we should leave the place, but he doesn’t want to pay me back my money for the days I have already paid. Then he just up and left.||Then there is also the minor inconveniences in the place everywhere, that show a lack of maintenance. A light that falls out the roof (with animals in the roof), a fridge that freezes or doesn’t work at all, the aircon that keeps on not working properly, the toilet that doesn’t flush.||All with all, I think Johan is the worst landlord I have ever dealt with. He doesn’t take his clients serious, he treats us like we are his children. Read moreSuch a lovely place! It’s just unfortunate that the man (owner) makes a habit of “checking up” and walking inside the home unannounced on more than one occasion. Would definitely not recommend if you’re a group of people who enjoy speaking and laughing. Unfortunately this was our last resort as most venues were booked out.
