We are on workation in Capetown and decided to make a Weekend trip to the addo international park close to port elizabeth. We came with the airplane to port elizabeth and took the uber to the ikwanisha lodge. We were welcomed very friendly from the son of the Hosters. (Speaks german and english). We realized quickly that we are not able to do a lot of things because we had no car and all the safaritrips were around 20 km far. They were expensive solutions that the people from those safaris pick us up at the lodge. So we talked to Ingrid and had the nice option to drive with peter and Thomas, back to port elizabeth in the next morning. (To get a rental car). On our way back, we have been in the addo international park and we saw a lot of animals. It was really worth it! In the evening we had a nice time in the bush-bar with the hosting family. They are very friendly and we had good and funny conversations. We really appreciated the time with them :)
The next day, we visited the giraffe walk which was not so far from the lodge but just with a car reachable. That was very nice too and we enjoyed the trip.
In the evening we wanted to eat dinner in a restaurant. We realised fast, that there is not much near the lodge so we drove back to port elizabeth. Then we passed by a supercool “shopping mall” (it calls boardwalk) there we had a delicious dinner in a restaurant which was hidden from the wind.
The road to the lodge is terrible because it has a lot of whole in the street… the rest, specially the view from the chalets, is very very beautiful!
Thank you so much, we really recommend the lodge but you...
Read moreOur stay at Ikwanitsha Lodge exceeded our expectations by far. We were initially unsure whether to choose a more remote accommodation and the drive over the gravel road has challenged our small rental car a bit. But all we can say is that it was well worth the journey and we were happy to spend a full 3 nights there. Communication was great and Ingrid was kind enough to book 2 great activities for us. Anyway, the hosts and all the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. The chalets had everything needed for a nice stay: good facilities, cleanliness, very comfortable beds and great views. The breakfast is very good and we can also only recommend to take advantage of the great dinner, which we did not expect to be so delicious. We also had nicely scheduled an afternoon on site for relaxation, which we used for a walk around the stunning grounds - a wonderful experience! So we can only heartily recommend to book the Ikwanitsha Lodge and also plan enough time for a walk...
