Some nice touches! Coffee with the host who was very helpful with area knowledge and suggestions was also great! ||No glass in the room, only a plastic tooth mug. No milk for the tea and coffee and no one around to ask and no, I'm not asking the host for milk at 6AM when they are obviously still asleep.||Nowhere to hang the towel after use and the toilet roll stands on the floor - no holder... Really folks, you are 4 star and catering for more upmarket - make the finishing touches!!||The airconditioning just makes a noise - does not chill the room at all - some air blowing but that's it. Same in my travelling companions' room - air con a noise maker and little else.||The pool and garden are beautiful but when a pool is not crystal clear it is the sign of unhealthy or badly managed water... I've had pools for 35 years and it is not difficult to keep it crystal clear and inviting... There were also some sort of organism swimming around when we arrived - looked like very small tadpoles...||All round - nice touches but lots of things to do and work needed to make it great! Broken lampshades do not look nice and one of the first things I noticed............||I asked the staff to NOT go into my room to service it as I was leaving some of my camera equipment there, computer and such - they still went in to put milk sachets there - too late and why did you go in after I expressly...
Read moreI stayed five nights in this charming lodge. The room was fantastic, recently refurbished with an outdoor shower and an amazingly comfortable bed. ||Surrounded by the aroma of orange tree blossom and silence I could really relax here. Did day trip to Addo elephant park and Scotia game reserve, great experience, this safari park is totally different to Kruger, but also very interesting.||Got lucky for my visit to the Daniels Cheetah Farm, when the cheetahs were in the mood to be cuddled. Totally awesome experience to be able to see these predators up very close, behaving and purring like a house cat.||Highlight of my stay was the visit to Addo Elephant Back Safari. I was convinced beforehand that I just wanted to interact with the elephants. After talking to the owner and hearing how in fact the elephants were in charge and would only be ridden if they felt like it that day, I took this opportunity and rode an 4m high elephant. Being this close and certainly afterwards when you got the photo opportunities and stood next to this gentle giant, feeding him, realising that you are just a fly next to him, was for me the experience of a lifetime and is a memory I will hold dear for the...
Read moreWe did not enjoy our stay at this lodge. Upon our arrival, the owner walked past us and rather helped unloading a delivery vehicle than welcoming us. He told us that he will be with us later. The shower was dirty and clogged up and never reached a consistent temperature. The clogged up shower resulted in one standing in a pool of water whilst trying to adjust the shower taps (without success). The plug of the basin did not work and therefore I could not shave. The one light was very dim and there were no large mirrors, making it difficult for us to prepare for a wedding we had the one evening. The breakfast is very basic compared to other lodges with lower ratings. The room was cleaned once, one late afternoon, and when we returned from the wedding there were no towels in our room (at 01:00 at night). Also, the entrance gate was locked and our remote did not work. The open bathroom (with the toilet almost next to the bed and no door) did not work well for privacy and the thin walls even less so. We will not be back, unfortunately, and urge future visitors to critically question the current high rating...
