Spent the weekend at The Longhill Lodge and Reserve which is 1 hour away from Port Elizabeth. Perfect location if you want a getaway that's not too far away from city, also perfect if you want to getaway and just disconnect. The latter was my reason for going away and the lodge gave me that and more.

I received such a warm welcome from the team. Friendly and welcoming staff. So easy going, I didn't want to leave you know when things are so easy going you feel like you've known the people for years? It felt like that. I love destinations that make me feel safe and welcomed beyond them just offering a service and me paying for it.

So, it's a self- catering unit and let me tell you? I only had to bring the food I was going to have over the weekend. The place has everything from kettles, pots, braai equipment - tongs, lighters, wood etc, cutlery— it's literally home away from home. You just have to show up. Beautiful, beautiful space. They did a good job with the place man.

Caught the sunset and a few animals from our lapa while we were braaing our dinner. It was an easy 10/10 getaway. I must add that going off-peak season also contributed to us having a wonderful stay. It was nice and empty. We had the teams...

I can't tell you enough how lovely the time we spent at Longhill Lodge and Reserve was!

We had two nights in a self-catered tent that was well equipped for our stay there, including a grill and a hot tub.

The evenings were so peaceful watching the sun receding over the hill, and later the nights with the Milky Way splayed out above, combined with antelopes grazing near our tent was breathtaking.

We had two game drives - one was an afternoon in the reserve itself, and one half-day in Addo Elephant National Park. Both were so empty so we ended up having private tours!

Our guides, Marco and Linny (sorry for any misspellings!), were fantastic! They were both knowledgeable of the fauna and flora, incredibly friendly, and made the drives super enjoyable and fun! Thank you again!

Our host, Danniella, was also lovely and very helpful with giving us instructions to drive in (and a tip to avoid driving through Motherwell, which has a high crime rate). She also helped book us in for dinner at the Bush Boma, for a meal in the reserve and also recommended some nice restaurants around, when we felt like exploring a bit!

And thank you to the rest of the team as well for making our stay an incredible and...

An Unforgettable Weekend to Longhill Lodge & Reserve Our weekend getaway to Lodge and Reserve was nothing short of spectacular, offering a perfect blend of exhilarating wildlife encounters, serene natural beauty, and unparalleled hospitality by Dannielle and Marco. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of tranquillity and adventure that truly made for an unforgettable weekend.

Waking up to the sounds of the bush and enjoying a cup of coffee on our private veranda was an experience we'll cherish. The attention to detail, from the comfortable bedding to the thoughtful amenities, ensured a truly relaxing stay.

The highlight of our weekend, undoubtedly, was the wildlife experience. The game drive was expertly guided by our knowledgeable ranger, Marco, who possessed an incredible passion for the bush and its inhabitants. We were fortunate enough to witness Giraffe, Elephants and various buck species, just to name a few. Each sighting felt incredibly special, and our ranger's insights into the animals' behaviour and the ecosystem added immense value to every moment.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic, luxurious, and truly memorable...

Although I have know the family who own Longhill Lodge for many years, I am always surprised by all it has to offer. The recent renovations and additions to the lodges and the luxury tented units, true glamping!!! All of this came as no surprise, knowing the effort, love, care and quality they have put into creating a magical place to share with the world. The views are breathtaking and all the animal sightings, so many buck species and we saw all 5 of the Ellie’s on the game drives. The food the chef provides is absolutely delicious. And such amazing staff. You won’t be sorry booking a stay here. Thanks Biggs family for sharing your world with us. Wishing you many years of successful adventures with your guests.

We were traveling with a tour party. We had some welcome drinks from the managers. The rooms had dirty floors, towels were missing in some rooms as well as soap. Even after requesting improvement regarding those topics nothing happened so we had to follow up on it next morning again. Rooms were not cleaned but at least got some soap and towels. The water from tap was muddy and the bed was saggy. All in all we cannot recommend to stay at the lodge. However we had a really great time on the game drive with gamekeeper Marco and got a tasty, traditional braai (kind of a bbq) from the lodge afterwards which are the only reason for the additional star for the rating resulting in 2 stars in total.
