My family and I had the opportunity of staying in this beautiful farmstay. Driving to the farmstay, we immediately noticed that the dirt road was neatly scraped and graded and it was a pleasure to drive on I was sent instructions well before the time as to how to enter the property from the national road. Upon arrival we could see where we had to go as it was well signposted. We parked and to our great pleasure, there was a sign on the door welcoming us. This meant a lot to us. As we entered the house, we could see the attention to detail. Freshly home made farm bread and rusks were waiting for us. We went into the kitchen. It was beautifully stocked, nothing was missing. It wad just so nice with the cupboards built into the walls.

It was clean and tastefully decorated. My wife even picked out a first aid kit.

The rooms had clean towels and bedding topped up in the winter with electric blankets. There was a braaikamer which was great and firefighters and wood provided. Even wifi was available.

During our stay the owner Lida contacted us to ask if we wanted to go for a drive around the farm to see the beautiful farm. We took up the offer a d Kobus was so informative. We could see that it was a well run farm. Lida asked us at all times to contact her if we neexe anything.

We were sad to leave. Its one of those pla es that we can call heaven on earth. I would fecommend it higy to anyone. You certainly will not regret staying on this beautiful farm

What an incredible getaway! This charming little cabin perched high on a hill stole our hearts from the moment we arrived. The sweeping views over the valley below were absolutely breathtaking — we spent hours just soaking it all in, watching the weather change and seeing the valley disappear under the mist.

The cabin was spotless, beautifully styled, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It felt cozy yet luxurious, with so many thoughtful touches that made us feel instantly at home. The fireplace was an absolute winner during the cold, rainy days — there’s nothing quite like curling up by a crackling fire while the mist rolls in outside.

And the wood-fired hot tub? A dream! Sitting in the warm water with cool air on our faces, enjoying the views and birds. One of the unexpected highlights? The adorable cows that came to visit!

Our hosts were wonderful — genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive without ever being intrusive. Their warmth and care really made the stay feel special. I must add, Lida knows a thing or two about baking rusks and making olives – a must try.

If you're looking for a peaceful escape with breathtaking scenery, a cozy cabin, and a touch of countryside charm, this is it. We left feeling rested and...

Very impromptu stay, a fantastic getaway, this is truly a hidden gem with 5 star amenities and a chance to shut down from the busy world. The well appointed cottages are a perfect option to just relax, for a city breakaway or for a romantic weekend with your loved one and a great spot from where you can explore the countryside and surrounding wine farms. Definitely can recommend this spot with hosts Lida and Kobus both being so welcoming and even spoilt with treats such as freshly baked bread and homemade jam on arrival. A plus point is that there is also super fast WiFi so you can even sit on the porch with the amazing views and catch up on some emails if the need arises. If you are looking for luxurious accommodation in peaceful surrounds then this is definitely the place to be. The mountain cabin that is soon to be opened will be a winner with it’s elevated views over the farmland below with the mountains in the distance, with it’s extremely cool net that one can relax on and enjoy a glass of wine with the sunsets in the distance with a private hot tub too, what more could one ask for? Cannot recommend this...

A slice of heaven at Dassenheuwel Farm Stay I booked the Wheat Cabin after seeing it on Instagram. I was about to travel on another business trip and my destination was Kigali. Lida was extremely responsive and I finalised my booking quickly. As I had a busy week I didn’t think about it too much but was hopeful that it would be lovely. Little did I know how much this little slice of heaven will exceed our expectations. Lida is an amazing host who kept us informed and from arrival to departure everything was just lovely. It is the little touches like the freshly baked bread, the lovely hammock on the deck to the microwaveable beanbag that kept me warm after our hot tubbing in the evening. There are little special touches everywhere. But honestly, nature is the star of the show. Birds everywhere and the picture window perfectly frames the beautiful scenery in the valley. Living in the desert in the Middle East means I hardly ever see rain. So for me the cold wet weather was the cherry on top of a most delicious dessert. Thank you Lida, we will certainly be back.

Dassenheuwel Farm Stay & Cottages; a slice of heaven on earth!! Peaceful, tranquil and packed with every home comfort, this gem nestled in the rolling canola fields between Malmesbury and Riebeek-Kasteel is the perfect getaway. From our warm welcome to the many well thought out amenities, hosts Lida and Kobus ensure all the comforts and conveniences to make you feel right at home. From the well stocked fridge and freshly baked farm bread to the duck down duvet and board games they have truly thought of every need their guests may have. We especially enjoyed the private braai facilities of our cottage, from where we had the perfect view of the sunset in the evenings, leading up to a night sky glittering with stars that appeared closer and brighter than ever. This place is truly something special and I cannot recommend it enough! Whether you're needing to escape the rat race for a weekend of R&R, or you simply need a place to stay for a wedding, conference or event in the area... Dassenheuwel will welcome you in and refresh your soul. We can't wait to visit again!

Where does one start with a review for this wonderful place! The farm is a close drive from Cape Town so for a weekend away it's perfect. It's proper "plaaslewe" , with all the bells and whistles you'd expect on a working farm. So for the kids they were away from screens and absolutely loved the open spaces, animals, tractors and even riding on the back of the farmers bakkie! The old farmhouse is beautifully restored and it's all in the details that got me! Freshly baked bread, towels and linen fit for a queen, fresh jam, butter and even wine for you to enjoy. Electricity during loadshedding, everything you would need in a kitchen and also something I always look for, beautiful wine glasses for that glass of wine on the "stoep" whilst taking in the absolutely breathtaking views. Such a wonderful couple that welcome you into their home and also hearts and you can really feel that this is not just another holiday home, their hearts have really been put in here! This is a place you will never forget and definitely will want to return to!
