Eden Studios — Hotel in Swartland Local Municipality

The arrival and check in experience was extremely strange and confusing, the owner ushered us to a garden cottage at the far end of the property after we paid and booked the main house that is situated next to the pool. We were 5 people in total so we booked the house by the pool as well as an adjacent poolside cottage. Needless to say we were very upset that the owner try to check us in at a completely different unit. This “garden cottage” looked nothing like the advertised pictures on Bookings.com, it did not have a pool next to it, or any aircons and looked like a cheap 2 star motel inside. The property has beautiful gardens, very well kept, just wish they could spend as much money on the interior of the cottages as they do on the gardens. The owner tried to relocate us to another cottage closer to the pool, however even that cottage looked a bit outdated with also no pool view as advertised and booked. We paid for a house by the pool but got something completely different than what the pictures showed on Bookings.com. This establishment really needs to work on their advertising with correct wording and descriptions and pictures on their website and especially bookings.com. Transparency goes a long way, and return guests will always remember this. This property should not be advertised as a "pet friendly" property. ||The host/owners are not happy for the dog's to be off a lead even when sitting on your 'own patio'. When we arrived the wife/owner met us at the gate with her costume on (unprofessional) and was not very friendly or welcoming. The first words out of her mouth was put your dogs on a lead - we were still in the car!!!!||When she opened up the 2bedroom villa for us, she rudely told my daughter to 'use her sense' when using the air-conditioning, not sure what she was implying as my daughter is 29yrs old and not a toddler.||Needless to say, I could write a book about how dreadful she made us feel during our stay which was over the past Easter weekend. You have to know as a host you cant be doing a great job when your guests have given you nicknames within 24hours of arriving at your property but I guess Batman and Rottweiler sums up her personality. She even had the audacity to stand at her window in the evening watching us whilst we were siting on our patio having dinner and drinks which we found rather creepy.||The villa was dusty with cobwebs and spiders everywhere with dead mosquito's plastered to the walls throughout. We were quite disappointed with our recent experience. We had booked a two-bedroom house with a pool and air conditioning, but upon arrival, we were shown to a small cottage far from any pool, with no pool view or air conditioning. This was not at all what we had expected or what was advertised.||The hostess did realize our dissatisfaction and made an effort to rectify the situation, but unfortunately, the damage was already done. While the property itself is gorgeous and peaceful, we couldn't shake the feeling of being unwelcome, and the whole arrival process left a bad taste in our mouths.||Ultimately, what we were promised and what we received were two very different things. We decided to leave and found another place nearby, which was exactly as advertised and a much better fit for us.||This experience highlighted the importance of accurate advertising and clear communication.
