We recently had a very disappointing experience with La Montagne in Riebeek-Kasteel that we feel potential guests should be aware of. We made a booking on Booking.com for the 19th–20th of September 2025 but noticed almost immediately that the dates were entered incorrectly. On the same day (16 September), we contacted the establishment to correct the booking to the intended dates — 27th–28th of September. We even received a receipt confirming that the change had been actioned. However, the next day (17 September), we received a call from a representative at La Montagne who abruptly informed us that the change could not be honoured due to full occupancy and that no refund would be issued — despite their own booking policy clearly stating that cancellations are free up to 7 days before the stay. Given that we made the request more than 7 days before the corrected dates, we believe a refund should have been processed. To make matters worse, the customer service we received during this interaction was extremely poor. The representative who contacted us was not only unhelpful but spoke to us in a rude and dismissive manner. This was followed by a disrespectful message that only added to the frustration. As paying customers, we expect to be treated with professionalism and courtesy. Unfortunately, this was not our experience with La Montagne. We are still awaiting a resolution and sincerely hope that the management takes steps to review how they handle booking issues and customer communication in the future. Our refund request remains...
Read moreThe weather in Cape Town during mid-July has been atrocious and we decided to get out of the city at the last minute. I booked us a King room on Friday afternoon and then our friends decided to join us too. We drove up from Cape Town on the Saturday and were met at the guest house by Anne-Marie, who was welcoming and went out of her way to show us around. Surprisingly we were the only guests and she gave us a choice of rooms, which was great. We opted for a loft room which was cozy and well appointed. Our stay was absolutely magnificent and if its a mini stay you looking for just an hour and 17 minute drive from Cape Town you will not be disappointed. To be fair our electric blanket did not work properly nor the air conditioner as we wanted to heat up the room in the freezing cold. The wall mounted heater worked well and took the chill off things. These small inconveniences did not detract from a wonderful break overnight and we would certainly consider revisiting La Montagne again. Thank you Anne-Marie for being there...

We decided to stay over for the night to have a fresh start Sunday morning. After a few calls we were offers a double "outside" room at the fantastic La Montagne Bed and Breakfast. We arrived an were welcomed by the owner, Anne-marie Auret and were "treated like kings". She introduced us to the establishment and lead us to our room. Coffee, tea etc. was available. Breakfast was available for the next morning, but we declined due to early departure. |I will highly recommend La Montagne Bed and Breakfast in Riebeel kasteel to anybody the need a good and...
