Purple Gecko Guest House — Hotel in Thaba Chweu Local Municipality

We paid R350 for dinner and R170 for a lunch pack. What received - Dinner: Found waiting in the room on arrival at around 17:00, cling wrapped and cold - a piece of home made, roasted potatoes, a washed out Tbone with some sauce on it, no salad, no veges. We did not touch it, went to Spur for dinner. Lunch pack was already prepared packed - meaning it would sit for close to 24 hrs - an orange, 300ml coke, 300ml water and a chicken wrap. We also left it behind. The meals were poor quality and not worth the money we paid. Went to Wimpy for breakfast - so all the money we paid for meals was a waste. We had difficulty with our booking due to miscommunication with the agent, the manager at Purple Gecko was rude, she raised her voice, treated us like we were dishonest. I would not recommend, the unit allocated to me and my wife was horrible. It had no windows (something we didn’t notice when checking in as we were rushing to a funeral) and smelt strongly of mold, with no air conditioning or ventilation to improve the situation. The bedding was smelly and clearly not fresh. The TV programs didn’t work, the lighting was poor, and the shower flooded. Things to lookout for upon your next checkin. Please dont book here, terrible experience, 1st night, auto off light switches was not working, no sleep, tried pulling blankets over my bed to try to sleep, lights were a disco with motion sensors in the room, manager said it will hopefully sort it out, were awake all night….
