Close to the Waterberge and between indigenous trees, you can not have a better bush experience. You are in the Marakele National Park and the big 5 can roam inside this bush camp. No electricity but gas and solar energy is present. The chalets are spacious. Small gas cooker for making tea, coffee is inside the chalets. No fridge is inside the sleeping quarter, this is a littlle akward as you have to walk to the kitchen at night, for milk, wich is not recommendable. A family chalet was recently build and it can accommodate up to 4 people. The "bathroom" is different than the average norm. Come and experience this. Alois is the camp warden and he is friendly and is willing to help. No selfdrive or hiking are allowed, which is a pitty. Rooms are spacious and outdoor shower awesome. Manager on site takes care of all your needs. If it’s value for money and comfort you want, Griffons is unbeatable. If you expect Sabi Sabi luxury, it’s not going to happen. Game viewing we believe is good but the weather was against us and we were all too happy to hang around camp, cook, braai and connect for a change. Scenery unbeatable! Access road may prove a bit challenging in some places for the nervous or paranoid, but taking it slow and relaxed, any normal sedan can make it up the winding mountain pass. Read moreUnfortunately we cannot even review the lodge because our booking was cancelled after 4 months have passed since payment was made. We are running the Marakele marathon and booked specifically early as it gets swamped with runners.
The marathon is 1 month away. We wont be able to get accomodation near to the event.
This is unacceptable and not in good spirit. Apparantly the chalets were damaged by elephants.This could not be verified. No letter. Only a call from Lekkerslaap.
