We had an incredibly memorable trip at Letamo. The staff were super attentive, polite and friendly - they truly make guests feel comfortable and add value to the overall experience. Portia accommodated our late arrival with a quick check in, allowing us time to go on our afternoon game drive. She also arranged for a lovely set up to celebrate our anniversary. Housekeeping were pleasant and considerate. Our ranger, Elzette, was wonderful. She was patient, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating to all guests. She ensured that we always had the best experience come rain or shine. We had some really wonderful sightings and given that there are only two lodges on the reserve, it didn't feel too crowded. There was ample space for all vehicles to not run into each other constantly. We were upgraded to a luxury suite which was stunning, spacious and well equipped. The only downfall was that we found droppings on the bed every evening as well as dust/dirt and other bugs that fell from the thatch roof - a Mosquito net would be ideal to prevent this and aid in guests feeling more comfortable when sleeping. It is however worth noting that housekeeping was called to change the bedding without any inconvenience to us while we were at dinner. Given the amount of rainfall during our stay, there was a leak from the thatch roof on our last night however the manager ensured that we were swifly moved into another room without any issues. The food was good but could have been better. The restaurant staff were always attentive in ensuring that plates were cleared, glasses were full and surprising us with interesting cocktails. The reservations process could do with improvement by providing booking confirmations in a timely manner and Carol could really work on her customer service. Unfortunately, even though I would love to return to the lodge, I could never put our vehicle through that 30+km...

I treated myself to a solo bush break at Letamo Lodge in Qwabi Private Game Reserve — and it turned out to be one of the best experiences I've ever had. From the moment I booked, the service was exceptional. KG, the lovely receptionist, contacted me to confirm the details and took note when I mentioned it would be my birthday. She said she'd see what she could do — and she truly went above and beyond.
When I arrived, I was welcomed with such warmth. My room was beautifully decorated with a "Happy Birthday" message on the bed, and literally everyone knew it was my birthday. From the porters who drove me to my room, to the restaurant staff — they all greeted me by name and made me feel incredibly special. KG checked in on me regularly to make sure everything was perfect.
The restaurant team also impressed me — they remembered what I liked to drink and eat, which added such a personal touch. The spa at Letamo is another highlight — beautifully serene and definitely worth booking.
Patrick, my game drive guide, was an absolute gem. He took me up a mountain with the most incredible views, shared fascinating insights about the reserve, and made the whole experience unforgettable. His knowledge and kindness really stood out.
Letamo Lodge truly delivered luxury, care, and an unforgettable birthday experience. The only heads-up I'd give is that it's deep in the bush — so a high-clearance vehicle or 4x4 is ideal. My car made it, but something more rugged would have been easier.
All in all, I felt pampered, celebrated, and completely at peace. Highly recommend, especially if you're going solo and want a special,...
Read moreMy wife and I spent a week here during July as part of a Titan Tours holiday from the UK. No doubt the safari connoisseurs will have a critical opinion on reserve size and wildlife. But for us , it was a fabulous holiday. |Situated approximately 3.5hrs from Johannesburg airport.( 2 hrs on good roads and 1.5hrs on a bumpy dirt road) . We were in a deluxe room with balcony, which was excellent. Very spacious and kept extremely clean throughout our stay. The staff were always pleasant and keen to please, going out of their way to meet any requests from guests.|Our guide was Darian. He was knowledgeable, witty, engaging and most of all, very passionate about his job, conservation and wanting to give you the best safari experience possible.|Two 3.5hr game drives per day, restaurant and outdoor dining and a spectacular bush dinner watching the sun set and an abundance of encounters with Elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, rhinos, jackals, birds and a crocodile. This holiday had everything we could have dreamed of and more.|We were there in July, which is the SA winter. Daily temperatures were in low 20s Celsius , with blue skies every day. Overnight temperatures dropped to about 6 Celsius. Some 7 am game drives were a frosty start. When the Sun disappeared behind the mountains after 5pm there is an immediate drop in temperature. It is advisable to bring plenty of layers including a warm coat, gloves, woolly hat and a snood or face covering, as driving around during the colder hours in an open sided landcruiser you experience an added wind chill.|We didn’t want to leave, and it has wetted our appetite for another safari and another visit to South Africa. Highly...
