Ama Zulu Guesthouse & Safaris — Hotel in The Big Five False Bay Local Municipality

Good day all. With great disappointment I write this review. My mum had celebrated her 45th on the 31st August so our treat to her was to book the one and only Amazulu guesthouse in Hluhluwe. We arrived on Friday evening and unpacked we were exhausted after a 3hours drive. We sat down to have some candle light dinner with my mums yummy curry. We ate and got ready for bed at 8:45pm. We got up early the next morning and left for our game drive at 8am. We were extremely excited for our first game drive after many years... This trip was a very special trip to my family and I but turned out to be such a disappointment. We left the accommodation and received a message from the manager saying that our family is causing to much of noise and we are not following rules yet we had adhered to all rules. I have a 5 year old brother can I tell him to keep quite don't laugh don't talk??.. It saddened me to know my family had the worst experience of our lives. There was no renewal of towels 1 towel was used for the 3 days we spent there. The manner in which the lady manager spoke was inappropriate and disrespectful. This is sad that we went as a family to celebrate the life of my mum who had been told she is a cancer survivor days before her birthday. To receive treatment like this I would never recommend this place ever! Oh and not forgetting Marilise agreed to allow us to visit my mum and sisters but not more than 30min.... BTW the honeymoon suite had such a bad odor due to the mat always being wet it was unbearable!!! Also not forgetting there were ladies that booked there and created so much more noise till 1am in the morning.

The fever tree had accommodated my family and we felt so welcomed and cared for... We had our braai and had some bonding time with my family. All we wanted was to have a good weekend with...

The accommodation was lovely with the rooms being serviced everyday. We were a party of 11 with 3 units booked in the middle of winter. All three nights we battled with hot water availability and very low pressure to the toilets. We complained numerous times with no resolution only to be told not to bath all at the same time. To this date my breakage deposit has not been returned after asking numerous times. The 6 sleeper unit is not recommended as it has one bathroom that has no lock on the sliding door together with the door not sealing so one can see the person showering from the sides. Definitely will not be back or recommend it to anyone. Reply to owners: I have not received the breakage deposit, telling me have does not pay it. The lady has not furnished a proof of payment and does not answer her whatsapp messages unless we write a review. And no, we South Africans are not vindictive as stated on your message to me. To reply to your reply, we only phoned at 11pm as we expected hot water from a 4star establishment but didn't think we had time restrictions to bath. It was my husbands 40th the next day and the family (no friends) stayed up to enjoy a fire and a late supper hence the late bathing. Llewelyn answered and said he will check irrespective of the lady screaming in the background that they must wait for the morning. Which left a bad taste to the beginning of a joyous occasion. You may of acknowledged the complaints every day but did nothing to remedy the situation. Please return my deposit or...

I am soo disappointed about the service i even cried and its my birthday today. My husband booked this place and paid for even breakfast. From the way we were welcomed yesterday the host having doubts that we made a booking, saying things like “are you sure” not too sure if he judged us by looking at us or myb it was a ‘race’ issue… this morning its my birthday im ready for breakfast excited only to be told that we didnt say last night that we will have breakfast, we should have reminded them, yet on the booking confirmation it clearly state that breakfast was paid for, he does not even apologise for inconvenience . He kept on saying my wife does the booking i dont know, and why didnt we say we were gonna have breakfast, he and his wife are very unprofessional, its first time i hear that u have to remind a host that u paid for breakfast. Now we have to go out and look for places, now the rooms, does not even smell fresh, the throw on the bed OMG, i would never visit that place and i dont recommend anyone to go there, we were supposed to stay until tomorrow but sorry we found another place.
