Moonlight Manor Boutique Guest House — Hotel in Ubuntu Local Municipality

The guesthouse is in a beautiful historic Manor house. House is truly beautiful and once someone put a lot of care into it.

Unfortunately, maintenance and housekeeping are far from being great. We rented 2 rooms, and the toilet seats were peeling in both of them. The sink in the self-catering cottage still had remnants of tomatoes from the previous guests. All locks on the rooms were a joke - they have more trouble than security. Service was at best staff-oriented, we as guests were asked to understand and made feel as a terrible inconvenience - e.g. latest breakfast they would serve us was 8am. When booking, we were offered a dinner option, which we comfirmed, but upon arrival were told that restaurant is closed and were given very sketchy directions to a hotel in town and their restaurant. Even the payment has been difficult - I chased them for an invoice, it never arrived and we were told to pay on arrival. On arrival the person standing in for a manager asked us to pay in the morning. In the morning (9am) only the cleaning ladies were on premises and we had to call the owner and wait for someone to receive our payment. The person who arrived was the 2nd owner and again, we were made to feel as a terrible inconvenience as he was on the premises at 6am to receive payments and deal with guests, and now we made him come back at 9am to deal with us (official check out is 10am).

Victora West is a small town in karoo, and one could have been very understanding if the staff had a different atgitude and owners were not charging prices that would be considered premium in Johannesburg (R1100 for a regular double room and R1350 for self-catering) with extra charge of R110 for egg&bacon breakfast. Unfortunately, prices and expectations that were created by their online presence did not match the reality of their offering.

We were warmly received and orientated regarding the establishment by a wonderful lady named Bernadene. We immediately felt welcome. ||The rooms are neat, very comfortable and like the rest of the property beautifully decorated.||Mybe a little more attention to things that appears the owners are aware of, one room the plug in the basin could not open and in the other the shower dripped no-stop with the shower door not closing. When this was mentioned to the owner the response was it happens due to lime in the water. ||Maybe check rooms prior to guest checking in. ||Overall, a good experience. ||We had super at the KaRoux Restaurant same owners, excellent service and really...

We arrived on Sunday afternoon 1/11/2020 and a friendly receptionist welcomed us and made us feel right at home. She explained everything we needed to know for dinner and breakfast and showed us to our room. The airconditioned room was already cool clean and we could take a well deserved afternoon nap. The next morning we were surprised with a stunning breakfast which was prepared to perfection. The owners shared some of the guest house’ history with us and we were so amazed with our stay.
