Unlike a public national park, the game reserve is not flooded with tourists. The animals show natural behavior - for example, fleeing if you come to close by slowly approaching on the road in an off-road vehicle. The area of ​​around 20.000 hectares offers the animals the space to retreat from humans. All the rangers we met were incredibly careful and respectful to the animals and did everything they could not to frighten them. I would like to thank the Rangers Sibu, Mister X and Sfiso. This is such a beautiful lodge. The ladies who work there are phenomenal. However we arrived on Friday and Mr. X , the senior ranger had lied to us. We had no game drive arranged.it was our first night and we were so disappointed. The ladies arranged us a tracker to take us on a drive but we only left when it was already dark. We were grateful for the effort that Slindile took in arranging this for us. Our experience at the Lodge was great, but Mr. X did an awful job with the game drives, even on the other days. We would leave at the same time as another group but he would bring us back within 2 hours and would try to convince us that we didnt need to stop for drinks and snacks. I've been to many private reserves and each one , the game drives were the highlight with everything else just being an enhancement to the trip. However having a ranger like this made me, the guest, feel like I was an inconvenience to him, and that he couldn't wait to just get rid of us. My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Babanango Valley Lodge for a portion of our honeymoon, and it was nothing short of perfection. Our guide, Sifiso, was both incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. Even on the game drives where we did not see a lot of big game, his knowledge of the area, other smaller creatures, birds and the plants made for an interesting game drive. The food was truly out of this world. You can expect a 5 star meal every time! The entire setting exudes luxury, and what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional dedication of the staff, who consistently went above and beyond to ensure our happiness and comfort.
