Marrob Lodge — Hotel in uMfolozi Local Municipality

I have stayed at Marrob Lodge many times when I have holidayed in South Africa and for a "taste of Africa" I can highly recommend staying there. The Lodge is run to a high standard by Merle and her team and Rob Farren-Handford is a very pleasant and attentive host. The whole setting of the Lodge is very African and the rooms are delightful and very clean. The meals are excellent and all home cooked, be prepared to put on a few kilos!!! Breakfast was good , The room not on standard for R900 per night. Bedding shabby , only bottom sheet with duvet shower moldy and smelly. The bathroom has no ventilation. pillow smelly . I love dogs but prefer my own and not to jump on me prior to departing for a meeting. The sound proofing between rooms and bathroom is not up to standard . I do not want to listen to the adjacent rooms private telephone conversations. Sorry wont be back , if I could find other accommodation in town...

DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE! This was our mistake.||Building in poor state of repair. It rained during our stay and water poured through the roof and ceiling of our room disturbing our nights sleep. The manager was full of apologies and agreed that some form of recompense should be forthcoming however "all refunds had to actioned by the owner". Several attempts to contact the hotel have fallen on deaf ears as, to date, we have been unable to provoke any sort of reply. Hence poor Trip...
