Meet Mekaar Resorts — Hotel in uMfolozi Local Municipality

It was an unpleasant experience recently when I attended a conference there all the way from pietermaritzburg and my family came along. Firstly, the room (family room number 3(were ant infested, the taps were leaking, no wifi in the room (we were told it would be fixed immediately), and faulty intercome phone. Also, our mobile network was very erratic A 3 hour power ottage and no back up generator. We could only have pre- prepared food for dinner, and nothing on the menu was familiar to my family and we spent the night hungry as the place is too far from the nearest town. The next morning the shower water was cut off and we left without having a bath. And despite all of these issues the room cost us R2000. And absolutely no apologies whatsoever. I had been in comms with the manager who confirmed that rooms are available and my guests can make bookings with a specific reference. I then (two weeks ago) went to the property itself to view the rooms and the person who showed us around did not say 1 word about the accommodation being fully booked on the same day I wanted to book. I then got phonecalls from wedding guests wanting to book their accommodation for my specials day, and the establishment were 1. rude to my guests, 2. acted as if they knew nothing about the arrangements made. Very clean rooms, and helpful staff. The t.v in the room didn't have a remote and the volume was stuck at low...couldn't adjust on the t.v either as the controls were not working. They also need to tar their roads, this being a wedding venue, as its quite tiresome having to walk that dusty rocky...
