Taken some time to ponder over writing this review but after some thought I feel it necessary to share our experience.
Being our second visit and looking forward to celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary on the 9th July, we were somewhat disappointed with our experience. We booked the βromantic indulgence packageβ Looking forward to getting in early to enjoy the floatation pool, we were advised that the pump had packed up and could not use this facility.
Somewhat disappointed, we were not going to let anything spoil our weekend so went on to use the sauna and steam room facility instead. The water container for the sauna was empty and decided to top it up ourselves. Moving on to the waiting room, the refreshments had not been topped up and decided to settle on having a cappuccino. I should point out that we had to select cleaning the coffee machine ourselves in order to get it to work.
Our scheduled treatments were on time. The Rasul steam bath was first and while we enjoyed sharing the limited mud which was part of the treatment, we felt uneasy having an electric heater in a damp room and decided to rather move it outside than chance getting electrocuted. We enjoyed relaxing in the steam dressed in mud but instead of this treatment ending in a lovely steam shower, we had ice cold water spray out the jets on us which had us scampering into a corner for cover. Not funny at all π‘. The massage which followed was pleasant, but after the cold shower shock, we decided to cancel the scheduled treatment treatment.
Dinner was fine, except for the starters which were below std. Our seating was not romantic as we were positioned next to each other in the passage. We did point out to the hostess that we would have preferred being seated opposite each other. We expected to arrive in our room to a romantic bubble bath but this was probably forgotten.
After a good rest, we enjoyed a departing breakfast. We were able to share our experience with the hostess who seemed to be in charge. She apologised and thanked us for pointing out the shortfalls. Staff were friendly but Iβm not convinced that we will be returning for a third visit. Very Disappointed and certainly nothing compared to our...
Β Β Β Read moreMy partner and I were fortunate enough to experince a magnificent stay at Fordoun over the past weekend. |Driving into the estate is breathtaking, the eastern is beautifully kept, rolling green hills, the dam, massive trees and immaculate gardens. We were met with immediate service at the reception, I think we were welcomed by at least 10 staff members, all with the biggest smiles and happiest attitudes. |We were taken to our room which we instantly felt comfortable in, the bathroom had a huge bath, marble surfaces, fluffy robes, delish coffee, the biggest and comfiest bed. We were pretty tired from traveling, the setting was intimate and beautifully put together. |The view from our room looked over the rolling grass fields where the cows peacefully roam around. The room felt extra cozy as the midlands mist came in, we were warm and so welcome. |Our culinary experience at Fordoun was outstanding to say the least. Focus is on locally sorced ingredients, served abundantly with the perfect balance of fine dining creativity. |The bistro has an incredible wine list, beautiful fire places decorated in fine art pieces. |Our waitrons were incredibly knowledgeable of the food and wine offerings, we needed for nothing. |The highlight of our stay has to be the Fordoun Spa. Wow! |Conveniently located and few meters away from the rooms. |We felt like we had been transported to another little world, everything we experienced was preloaded with luxury. |The therapists are intuitive as to what your body is needing, the massages were heavenly, the team so knowledgeable on the products the Spa uses. The Elliot Ndlovu products are made in-house, adding to the country, luxury, cultural experince. |We arrived feeling pretty overwhelmed with life, we left feeling totally relaxed, so well fed and treated like absolute royalty. |I would highly recommend that everyone experiences this at least once in their lives! ||Thank you team Fordoun, we cannot...
Β Β Β Read moreI recently visited Fourdoun Spa rated "Luxurious 5 star Spa and unfortunately my experience was far from what I expected. To my shock and dismay, my gold Necklace was stolen from my Gown pocket, which I was asked to remove before going for my massage. As soon as i realized I forgot to take it out of my Gown,, I immediately reported it to the staff at the Spa, but the way it was handled only added to my frustration.
The communication was appalling. Instead of taking the matter seriously, the staff seemed uninterested and unhelpful. I was bounced around between different people, none of whom gave me a clear reaponse or seemed to care. I followed up multiple times and each time I received vague answers with no real progress.
For a Supposed "five star" establishment, this level of service is inexcusable. Not only was my personal property taken, but the complete lack of professionalism and transparency in handling the situation left me feeling disrespected and ignored. I would not be returning and would caution anyone to think twice before visiting this spa, especially if you're bringing...
