Hillhouse Accommodation — Hotel in uMgeni Local Municipality

My mom and I stayed in the lake house for two nights and it definitely served our purpose. It is a great stop over for those who want to see and experience as much of the Midlands Meander as possible. The lake house has a beautiful view over the lakes and forest. Watching the sun set and rise is a fantastic experience. It is very minimalistic with most of the bare necessities, but one must bring your own shampoo, hairdryer etc and there are no cupboards, which is fine for a night or two but can get frustrating if one should stay for longer. It does get very cold as the house has a very high roof and sement floors and therefore the fireplace is an absolute necessity. It is easily accessible and very safe as the forest house and hill house is fairly close by. Firstly, a lovely tranquil place and beatifully located. The access road very bumpy, needs attention, a smoother ride. Attention to cleanliness detail, especially the bathroom & shower. The water flows into the carpet and maybe a better drain could solve the problem. We have appreciated wifi as researching local attractions, resturants, ect, ect would have been easier. My biggest gripe is the lack of cross ventalation in the two bedrooms, single opening does not allow for airflow as is required. One fan. Very comfortable beds and supportive.

Our large family group visited Hill House in December - what a beautiful place! Hill House is the most amazing farm shed conversion - quirky, characterful, comfortable and inviting, it was perfect for us, with more than enough space for us all to relax, unwind and enjoy the stunning views and beautiful countryside. We took long, rambling walks through the farmland with our two dogs, spent long evenings by the fire on the chillier days, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
