Lovely concept and design however there is much needed tlc. The road/driveway is beach sand so a heads up as I have read previous posts of people moaning about using smaller vehicles. Nicole is lovely but I do believe more staff would have been better during December to help. Please be mindful when staying in rooms 1 and 2, the entrance faces the bush and when you are in the communal area, you cannot see and unfortunately we had the misfortune of having our money, cellphones, wallets stolen even though apparently this is the first time this has happened, lock your windows and doors! The signal/ reception is bad except at the top by the big tree, no WiFi is available should you need it. Again lovely concept and the rooms are nice, the bath inside is a tad awkward getting in and out as it's quite high. Love the outside showers. We won't be back in a hurry but there is huge room for growth ie maintenance, security, WiFi and more outdoor lighting would help immensely.

IZulu eco lodge is a wonderful experience. It really gives you the feel of a Zulu rural village. The bungalows are in the style of a Zulu hut. There is an outdoor shower, a central Lapa with a barbecue, as well as a wonderful communal kitchen, dining room and lounge. It's pet friendly, crawling with chickens, 2 dogs and a cat. Our hostess, Mpumi, did a great job to make us feel welcome. Three things I'd change. Firstly, there should be a dustbin in the room. We used a plastic packet. Secondly, as it's advertised as being pet friendly, I feel it would be better if even one of the 5 bungalows were enclosed with a fence. The chickens were everywhere and so I had to keep my dog in the bungalow most of the time so she didn't chase the chickens. Lastly, some outdoor furniture so you can sit outside would be awesome.

Thumbs up to Nicole from the lodge, she is a fantastic hostess made us feel at home. We had a fantastic stay, the bungalows and lodge is clean and very well equipped. The bungalows are very spacious and modern. The boma and sparkling pool was a delightful bonus. Large and clean area for the kids to play and we had adequate privacy. The lodge was easy accessible from the main road. It is a drive to sodwana based just outside of mbazwana but by far the best place we have stayed in sodwana thus far and totally worth the daily scenic drive. We would highly recommend the lodge to anyone visiting the area
